Jihad comes to Canada?

As I write this post, there have been multiple shooting incidents in Ottawa, Canada. With one gunman confirmed killed. There are reports that there were other gunmen involved on the attack on the Canadian Parliament.

Additionally, there have been reports of other shootings at a mall about a mile from the parliament building. There has been one confirmed person wounded in this attack, solider was shot while standing guard at the cenotaph at the War Memorial in downtown Ottawa and has since been taken to the Civic Hospital. I have no information on his status as of this posting.

The incidents, the parliament and mall shootings have not yet been confirmed to be connected, but I suspect they will be. The attacks were a classic case of a diversionary attack followed by the primary attack. Also, no one is saying it formally, but there are suspicions that this was an attack mounted by Islamic Fundamentalists. This is on top of an incident the other day in Canada where a Muslim convert who ran down two Canadian soldiers, killing one before he was killed by Police.

Obviously, this event is still ongoing and information is lacking. One rumor I heard on Fox was that this was an attack conducted by ISIS, although there is no confirmation of this as yet. All ports of entry and exit have been locked down by the Canadians and the United States is now on a heightened state of alert with all commercial flights being carefully monitored and Air Force fighter armed and on alert to intercept any hijacked planes.

Now, why would RIF’s, (Radical Islamic Fundamentalists), try to shoot up Canada’s parliament and a shopping mall? Sadly, the answer is simple. They knew that the odds of anyone having any way to shoot back were minimal. The only people who walk around in Canada armed are the police. I do not know what the laws of Canada are regarding concealed carry for citizens, but Canada does have fairly strict gun control laws.

If this had happened in the United States, the chances are, with a few exceptions, at least one citizen would have been armed and started shooting back. Since most terrorists want to inflict the maximum body count possible, getting their heads shot off by a citizen is something they prefer to avoid. I wonder how this will play out in Canada, especially if more attacks occur of the next few days and weeks.

Again, there is going to be a lot of wrong information coming out, and yes, that includes this blog. I’ve posted the best information I have at this time, but as we all know, the earliest reports are usually wrong. Our prayers go out to the wounded soldier and I hope his injuries are very minor and that he fully recovers in short order.

I have just read news report that the soldier wounded at the memorial has died. Out thoughts and prayers go to his family.

It now appears that there was only one shooter and yes, he was a Muslim, or in this case, another recent convert to that political system masquerading as a religion. His name was Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, and his goat molesting name was Abdul Zehaf-Bibeau. He was put down like the rabid dog that he was by the swift actions of the Sergeant-at-Arms Kevin Vickers.
