These stories tie in to the post I made earlier regarding a nurse who objected to being put into quarantine on her return from West Africa. As we know, President Obola won’t impose a travel ban to and from those areas in Africa where Ebola is rampaging out of control.
In answer to the SCoaMF’s refusal to actually do his job, three states have already imposed their own 21 day quarantines on people from West Africa, provided they catch them. New York and New Jersey are the first two and Illinois, shoving a thumb into the eye of Obama, is the third state to impose a quarantine. This is not sitting well with the clowns in Washington. Here are a few details from Fox News:
Three U.S. states imposing mandatory quarantines of health-care workers returning from Ebola-ravaged West Africa sparked a furious debate this weekend that included the country’s top infectious-disease doctor saying he would not have recommended such a measure and a quarantined nurse saying she feels like a “criminal.”
I’ve already commented on Kaci Hickox complaints, and showed my complete lack of sympathy to her plight. Could the actual quarantine have been handled better? Sure, but this is literally states doing something that hasn’t been done in easily 50 years. No one has experience in how to set up and handle people who have to be quarantined and don’t want to be.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told “Fox News Sunday” that the 21-day quarantines now being imposed in Illinois, New Jersey and New York can have the unintended consequence of discouraging healthcare workers from volunteering in the West African countries, where an estimated 4,500 people have so far this year died from Ebola.
And why should it? I fully expect those troops Der Fubar has sent over there to be put into quarantine. In fact, I expect those troops might want to go in to isolation without being ordered to. They have no interest in putting their families at risk, and camping out for a month is something they are all quite used to.
If any medical people volunteer to go to Africa to treat the sick, more power to them and hats off to them. They just need to know that when they want to come back, they will have to cool their heels for a month just to be on the safe side.
Fauci argued that aggressive monitoring can accomplish the same results because people infected with Ebola do not become contagious until they start showing symptoms.
Yeah, that’s worked real well to date. Ms. Vinson was self monitoring and called into the CDC when she wasn’t sure it was safe for her to travel. “No problem! Go on. You’re fine!” Well, she wasn’t fine. Then we have Dr. Craig Spencer. He too was treating Ebola patients, came home, breezed through those “Perfect” systems, and now New York is scrambling to track down any potential contacts since he got back. Several people, including his fiancee are already in quarantine thanks to this idiot. Sorry Dr. Fauci, you have absolutely no credibility any longer.
New Jersey GOP Gov. Chris Christie told Fox News that he has “great respect” for Fauci but defended his decision to impose the quarantine, saying he has an obligation to protect residents amid Centers for Disease Control guidelines that remain a “moving target.”
Christie’s “Great Respect” comment is a code phrase. Translated it means “You blithering idiot!”
Christie also disagreed with Fauci’s argument about volunteer isolation for possible Ebola victims being the correct course of action.
“I don’t believe when you’re dealing with something as serious as this that we can count on a voluntary system,” he said. “The government job is to protect safety and health of our citizens. And so, we’ve taken this action and I absolutely have no second thoughts about it.”
And that is exactly what the government is supposed to do. Manage epidemics, preferably before they become actual epidemics. I will be the first to say I have no respect at all for the Jersey Whale or the current head of the Cuomo Crime family, but this is one of those times when they are doing what they are actually supposed to. Protecting their citizens. Which is far different from King Putt’s response. In a story last week on Fox News, Il Douche doubled down on his stupidity:
President Obama on Saturday repeated his argument against a travel ban on West Africa where Ebola is an epidemic and urged Americans not to give into hysteria about the deadly virus, saying the U.S. is not dealing with a similar outbreak.
“We have to be guided by the science,” the president said in his weekly radio and online address. “We’re a nation of more than 300 million people. To date, we’ve seen three cases.”
As I said, this was last weekend and we now have 4 cases with a probability of one or two more secondary infections.
Their key objection is that such a ban could prevent needed medical supplies, food and health care workers from reaching Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, the West Africa countries hit hardest by the epidemic. Without that aid, the expert say, the deadly virus might spread to wider areas of Africa, making it even more of a threat to the U.S. and the world.
And we already know this is bovine droppings. Several African countries bordering the Ebola hot zones have locked down their borders, and guess what? No Ebola.
They also cite expenses and difficulties in chartering private aircraft or enlisting the military’s assistance to transport thousands of personnel and huge amounts of supplies from around the world that are now moving freely on scheduled air travel.
Now this is an outright lie. The military is well equipped to handle the logistics of moving thousands of people and tons of supplies to Africa. They have actual, purpose built aircraft for just that sort of mission. Already several European airlines have closed down the flights into and out of those countries with Ebola. There are also reports that another reason not to ban travel is economic. Representative Tim Murphy states that Dr. Tom Frieden:
“Explained to me … the concern was that these are fledgling democracies and if we put a travel ban that that may affect their economy and harm them,” Murphy said.
To which I and many others say, So what? Where is it written we are supposed to put other countries ahead of American Citizens? Oh wait. These are Transnational Progressive Moonbats. They consider themselves to be “Citizens of the World” and not citizens of the United States of America. Another term for people who think this way is “Traitors.” No, it doesn’t cross the line into the Constitutional definition of Treason, but it is the generally accepted version.
We need a travel ban and quarantine measures in place to protect Americans and Lawful Resident Aliens. I don’t give a damn about the hurt feelings of some nitwit who thinks she’s “Special” since she went to Africa to help out. Until we know you are clear of Ebola, you can sit in a room and watch television or surf porn for all I care. We need to take care of our own first.
