Good day all. The chief perjurer IRS commissioner John Koskinen has announced that due to budget cuts, the Internal Revenue Service might not be able to get people’s tax refunds out on time.
It seems that between the IRS’s new responsibilities under Obamacare, along with the cuts pushed through as punishment due to the IRS basically suppressing the Tea Party and other conservative groups, they are being forced to furlough workers. Here are the details from Fox News:
The Internal Revenue Service is crying poor in the face of budget cuts and weighing the possibility of its own short-term shutdown — even warning that tax refunds could be delayed next year. IRS Commissioner John Koskinen gave details Thursday on ways the tax-collection agency might try to cut costs. He said everything from taxpayer services to enforcement efforts could be affected.
You know what that sounds like to me? It sounds a lot like this.

As you might expect from someone in Government, their first thought it to punish the citizens that they allegedly work for.
But, in a move that could impact millions, he said there could be a lag in refunds being processed.
“Everybody’s return will get processed,” Koskinen told reporters. “But people have gotten very used to being able to file their return and quickly getting a refund. This year we may not have the resources, the people to provide refunds as quickly as we have in the past.”
And to that I call Horse Hockey! If you file electronically, your 1040 form is processed by a computer. It then send out the refund, also electronically in most cases and a human, (If there is any such thing working for the Internal Revenue Service), never gets involved. Only of something triggers an alert will a person actually look at the return. And the reason that the Chief Perjurer IRS commissioner is screaming poverty?
Congress cut the IRS budget by $346 million for the budget year that ends in September 2015. The $10.9 billion budget is $1.2 billion less than the agency received in 2010. The agency has come under heavy fire from congressional Republicans for its now-halted practice of applying extra scrutiny to conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status.
What? Koskinen, who is probably guilty of lying to congress with regards to that scandal, thinks that the criminal actions of the IRS should just be ignored? Oh, yeah, silly question. Of course he does. As you might expect, he promptly said that denying unlimited funds to the IRS was rewarding criminals.
“In some ways, these budget cuts are really a tax cut for tax cheats,” Koskinen said. “Because to the extent we have fewer people to audit and enforce the tax code, that means some people cutting corners on their taxes or not complying are going to get away with it, and that is a decision that Congress has made.”
Do you know when I first heard a bureaucrat say that vital services or law enforcement was being put in jeopardy because the taxpayers won’t fork over more money? It was Kevin White ((Kevin Hagen White)) when he was Mayor of Boston. When it came time for the budget for the “Shitty of Boston” as he used to call it, to be announced, he would say more revenue was needed or police, firemen and teachers would be laid off and schools and libraries closed. His scare tactics back then worked, but interestingly, those cops, firemen and schools would still be cut. The one thing he would never dream of doing was cutting all his overpaid cronies. After a while, it stopped working and I can’t recall if Mayor Mumbles Menino ((Thomas Michael Menino)) tried using it when he ran the city.
Now my opinion of the IRS crying poverty is simple.

I suspect that a large number of other people share the sentiment. Will I be affected by this if the IRS plays games with my refund? Sure, but like many people, I don’t count on it in my budgeting. To be honest, I’ve been trying to figure out how to zero out my refund for a while now. All a refund is, is the repayment of a loan to the government, from you, at no interest to the government. As far as I’m concerned, the IRS can bite me.
