Mayor de Blasio adds insult to injury

Good day all. As you should know by now, unless you are still living under a rock somewhere, New York City mayor Bill de Blasio is not well regarded by the rank and file members of the New York City Police department.

You might call it mutual hatred between the two parties. De Blasio has long been antagonistic to the police, far beyond simple criticism for police who abuse their authority. Because of his big mouth, and the contempt of the police by others in his office, it could be said that the two NYPD officers killed a few weeks ago can be partially blamed on him.

Now I’ve gone into what I believe are some of the causes and possible solutions of, to put it bluntly, out of control police. It can all be laid at the doorstep of bad management at all levels and turning a blind eye to inappropriate behavior by some bad apples. Poor training is also a major issue as well.

Still, it is a mayor’s job to back his police publicly while dealing with their problems quietly. One of the things a mayor must do is protect all police officers, as much as possible, from morons and idiots in the city government. de Blasio had the chance to do just that, instead he decided to double down on his stupidity. Here are some of the details from Fox News:

Mayor Bill de Blasio delivered another blow to New York’s Finest on Wednesday when he reappointed a Brooklyn judge who freed without bail two men who threatened cops just days after the Bed-Stuy double police assassination. The stunning decision came even as one of the suspects — a gang member charged with posting police death threats online — skipped a court date and had a warrant out for his arrest, sources said.

The Stupid

The judge in question is Laura Johnson. I haven’t been able to find much of a footprint on her online, but what I have found doesn’t say she is a stark raving moonbat. She was originally appointed by Michael Bloomberg, who was not noted for badmouthing police. Still, her release of those thugs right after the execution style murders of two officers was a pretty blatant display of contempt for the NYPD. The only thing topping it was de Blasio’s reappointing her rather then terminating her contract.

Her one-year, interim reappointment by de Blasio outraged law enforcement officials a day after he met with the heads of five police unions to heal his fractured relationship with cops.

“The mayor’s actions of reappointing this judge are completely hypocritical to his argument that he’s pro-police and counterproductive to what he claims to be an effort to open dialogue going forward,” said sergeants union chief Ed Mullins.

“He had the opportunity to demonstrate good will and support for the police, and he once again has demonstrated the opposite.”

I don’t know why this is so surprising to the NYPD. Bill de Blasio is your typical two-faced lying socialist. In a story in the New York Post:

De Blasio’s move even contradicted his own questioning of Johnson’s wisdom after The Post revealed how she ignored a prosecution request to set $250,000 bail for reputed gang member Devon Coley.

While the judge’s decision was in compliance with the letter of the state’s laws on bail — which focus almost exclusively on risk of flight — our judges must take into account all of the circumstances that contribute to the risk of flight, and that certainly includes the seriousness of the offense,” the mayor said at the time.

Judge Johnson was also ripped up one side and down the other by Office of Court Administration.

After The Post exposed Coley’s no-bail release in the NYPD threat case, Johnson was informally admonished by an official with the Office of Court Administration, sources have said. The court administrator told Johnson she “should be setting an example to the public that threatening or assaulting police officers isn’t an acceptable thing,” one source said.

Do you think Johnson took this criticism to heart and learned her lesson? Of course not!

But instead of following the advice, Johnson doubled down later that same day and freed a man charged with attacking a cop outside a Chinese restaurant in Brooklyn.

There is obviously something going on in the head of this moonbat judge. Without knowing her full record, it’s beginning to look like she’s a judge from the bad old days when dangerous criminals were given a slap on the wrist and sent on their way. As to one of the men this dimbulb cut loose? Well, guess what? He’s skipped out on a court date already.

On Monday, a warrant was issued for Coley’s arrest when he failed to appear in court to certify he had performed the three hours of community service ordered as part of his plea bargain in the unrelated theft of a Citi Bike, sources said. Coley was caught with the hot wheels July 28 and freed without bail by Johnson, sources said. He copped a plea to disorderly conduct in exchange for the sentence of community service and a surcharge of nearly $1,000.

shooting fish in a barrel

Why do I have a sneaking suspicion this clown is going to “Resist arrest,” or just be found floating in the East river? Frankly, I don’t care what happens to him, and if he gets hurt, oh well. Thanks to Mayor Bill de Blasio and his general attitudes, the NYPD is now doing the bare minimum in police work. They are pursuing major crimes of course, but they are not writing traffic tickets or other summonses. This is their way, along with turning their backs on the mayor at all functions, to show their utter contempt for de Blasio. Frankly, Bill de Blasio needs to either resign, (Which he wont’ do), or be removed from office. I do not know if there is a way to recall or impeach his idiot, but he has to go before things get more out of control.
