Senate RINO’s say “Gas prices down, let’s raise taxes!”

Good day all. Over the last couple of months, the price of oil has all but collapsed leading to lower gas prices. Prices are now lower then they have been since 2010 and show no sign of slowing their decline. So, what is the response from the Congress? They want to raise the gasoline tax.

The-Good-Idea-Fairy-3

This isn’t just the dim bulbs on the Democrat’s side of the aisle, we’re also seeing a couple of noted RINO’s saying this would be a great idea. The excuse they use, as always, is to put the money towards fixing “Infrastructure.” Here are some of the details from Fox News:

Falling gasoline prices have sparked congressional debate about increasing the federal gas tax to help fund upcoming infrastructure projects and have set up a potential disagreement among House and Senate Republicans.

I suspect it won’t be just between the House and Senate Republicans. There are a number of Senate Republicans who think this is a really bad idea. Still, what is the excuse they have for raping the taxpayers further?

The federal gas tax primarily pays for transportation projects but has stayed at 18.4 cents a gallon for roughly two decades, helping create the funding gap.

Would you like to know why there is a funding gap here? There are a number of reasons. A couple that come to mind are taking the funds meant to repair roads and bridges and wasting it on things like bike paths and rail projects, things better left to either local governments or the private sector. Then we have this thing called “Prevailing wage ((Prevailing Wage)).”

union-thug-300x207

This was a gift to the unions back during the New Deal and has jacked up costs for road repairs and construction ever since ((The Davis Bacon Act)). Repealing the Davis-Bacon act along with allowing construction companies to hire who they want would save billions of dollars a year. Of course, the unions would scream bloody murder, but I consider that a feature, not a bug. Then we have the problem of more fuel efficient cars.

In addition, increasing construction costs combined with less revenue from the gas tax, in large part because of more fuel-efficient vehicles, have further contributed to the estimated $16 billion funding gap over the past several years.

Well gee whiz Batman, what the Hell did you think was going to happen when you started mandating more fuel efficient cars? Frankly, I’m of the opinion that the only reason cars aren’t getting even better mileage is due to the incompetent interference of the Federal Government. In any case, Our favorite orange tinted Crybaby is telling the Senate that there is little chance a tax hike on fuel would make it through the house.

However, House Speaker John Boehner suggested Thursday that getting a gas-tax increase passed in the now-Republican-controlled House and Senate seems unlikely.

“When the Democrats had total control of the Congress they couldn’t find the votes,” he told reporters. “It’s doubtful the votes are here to raise the gas tax again. … I’ve never voted to raise the gas tax. We’ll have to work our way through it.

There is a reason that raising the gas tax can’t get through. It is highly regressive and tends to hit the low income people who can’t afford it. And of course, there is the aforementioned waste of money on projects pushed through by Congress ((Gravina Island Bridge)) , ((Central Artery/Tunnel Project)). So, who are the Senate RINO’s that want to “Cross over” and have a “Bipartisan Agreement” to screw over the American People?

But at least four Senate Republicans — Bob Corker, Tenn.; James Inhofe, Okla.; Orrin Hatch, Utah; and John Thune, S.D. — appear open to the idea of increasing the tax. Last week, Thune, the third-ranking Senate Republican, told “Fox News Sunday” that he didn’t “favor increasing any tax, but I think we have to look at all of the option.”

double-facepalm

First you moron, start looking at how to make the money you are getting go further. Then look at all the projects and determine what is actually useful to the country and not to your political career. Taxes should be the last thing to be considered, not the first.

recovering dumbass

Inhofe, chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, has suggested lawmakers have little choice but to at least consider an increase, in light of the state of the fund and the country’s crumbling roads and bridges.

And how much to these crooks want to jack up the price of gas?

Corker, who is backing a proposal for a 12-cent-a-gallon increase in the gas tax over the next two years, says such a hike would be offset by other taxes that Americans now pay.

Epic_Facepalm_by_RJTH

And when was the last time you morons ever actually cut taxes that would actually benefit the people who had their taxes increased? Well, don’t keep us in suspense, we are waiting and we American’s are not noted for our patience.

“At least it would put our infrastructure on strong footing,” Corker said. “And that second component seems to get left out of the conversation most of the time. But, yes, I believe that’s what we should do.”

Pull the other finger you liar, it has a bell on it. We all know that the money you plan on stealing from the taxpayers wont’ do a damn thing to fix the problems with the highway infrastructure. And of course, you have your pals across the aisle helping you end your political careers.

Democrats including Sen. Barbara Boxer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, both of California, have urged Congress to increase the tax or find other ways to better fund infrastructure projects. “If there’s ever going to be a time to raise the gas tax, the time when gas is so low is the time to do it,” Pelosi said last week.

bullshit-meter

Notice that they never consider what will happen when the price of gas starts going back up? It will you know. With the Progressive Liberal Fascist Democrats, raising the price of energy is a great idea, especially fuel taxes. That way they can force people into the nonexistent mass transit systems that network the cities and states.

obamacare trainwreck

Now that might seem like a snarky comment, but that is the way they think. The progressive movement is all about controlling people and the car allows people to travel at will wherever they want to go. Since most members of the PLFD live in or near major cities, and have managed to use their positions to make themselves rich, they neither understand or care about the problems real people have.

Do you think I’m kidding? Do you remember one Dr. Steven Chu, the former Secretary of Energy under Barack Obama? He is now the “Former” Secretary of Energy after the collapse of a number of “Green Energy” projects that cost the taxpayers billions of dollars. Chu once said that he wanted the price of gas in the United States to reach the levels the Europeans pay, roughly 7-10 dollars a gallon. IN a quote in the Wall Street Journal back in 2008:

Mr. Chu has called for gradually ramping up gasoline taxes over 15 years to coax consumers into buying more-efficient cars and living in neighborhoods closer to work.

“Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe,” Mr. Chu, who directs the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California, said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal in September.

The Stupid

If I recall Correctly, Dr. Chu doesn’t own a car. He was a classic elitist who rarely ventured from his ivory tower into the real world. When he finally did, he was smacked hard upside the head with a “Clue x Four.” He stepped down as one Green project after another he supported failed spectacularly.

Now is not the time to raise taxes. In fact, it’s time to start cutting taxes, completely overhauling the tax system, and figuring out just what the Federal Government is actually responsible for under the Constitution. Roads and Bridges do seem to be one of those responsibilities, but until the Moonbats, RINO’s and other members of the Political Class stop using the treasury as their own personal reelection piggy bank, the American people will not only refuse to go along with higher gas taxes, they will punish those who push them at the polls.
