Good day all. As you may know, the IRS said they had lost Lois Lerner’s email. Congress, along with many others, Including myself, had some serious problems with the excuses that the head of the IRS made on why they couldn’t find them. It boiled down to “The dog ate the email.”
Well, the Information Technology staff of the IRS was able to recover the missing messages by the simple expedient of going through the backup tapes. Now it’s coming out that the IT staff was never called in to go through the backups by the IRS management. Because of this and other things, there is a good chance of criminal charges being filed against not only Lois Lerner, but the head of the Internal Revenue Service. Here are some of the details from Fox News:
Investigators said Thursday they have recovered 32,000 emails in backup tapes related to the Internal Revenue Service targeting of conservative organizations. Though they don’t know how many of them are new, they told a congressional oversight committee that IRS employees had not asked computer technicians for the tapes, as directed by a subpoena from House oversight and other investigating committees.
They didn’t contact the IT department? I’m not a lawyer, but that smells like an attempted coverup to me. If I recall various law shows on television, when they go into discovery, they dig into just about anything that might have the information they are looking for. No wonder the investigators are “somewhat annoyed” with John Koskinen.
That admission was in direct contradiction to earlier testimony of IRS Commissioner John Koskinen. “It looks like we’ve been lied to, or at least misled,” said Rep. John Mica, R-Fla. at a congressional hearing Thursday evening.
Considering the current administration and how they will lie as a matter of course, I think it’s a safe bet that Koskinen outright perjured himself and did it intentionally.
IRS Deputy Inspector General Timothy Camus, who testified alongside Inspector General J. Russell George, said his organization was investigating possible criminal activity. He did not elaborate, other than to suggest a key factor is whether documents were intentionally withheld.
I think the simple answer to this question is a solid “YES,” they were intentionally withheld. Koskinen’s refusal to provide the data along with the intentional destruction of Lois Lerner’s hardware, along with others being looked at, tells me that they were engaged in a coverup.
Camus said it took investigators two weeks to locate the computer tapes that contained Lerner’s emails. He said it took technicians about four months to find Lerner’s emails on the tapes. Several Oversight committee members questioned how hard the IRS tried to produce the emails, given how quickly independent investigators found them.
Four months does seem a bit long to me, but then I don’t know what the backup and recovery strategy is for the IRS.
“We have been patient. We have asked, we have issued subpoenas, we have held hearings,” said Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, chairman of the Oversight Committee. “It’s just shocking me that you start, two weeks later you’re able to find the emails.”
It’s not shocking when you find the right people to do the job. Everything we’ve seen to date indicates a concerted effort to obstruct the investigation. In case anyone is wondering, that is a criminal act.
Though the IG’s office is looking at possible criminal activity, Washington, D.C.-based attorney Patrick O’Donnell said the Justice Department would have the final say on whether anyone at the IRS would face charges.
And that means there will be no criminal investigation or charges, at least as long as Obama is in office. As you might expect, the Democratic Crime Family Democrats are continuing their stonewalling.
At the hearing, Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., questioned the significance of the recovered emails in an exchange with Camus.
“So as I understand it from your testimony here today, you are unable to confirm whether there are any, to use your own words, new emails, right?” she asked Camus.
“That is correct,” Camus replied.
Maloney: “So what’s before us may be material you already have, right?”
Camus: “That is correct”
Maloney. “So may I ask, why are we here?”
I can answer that you miserable excuse for an American. They need to run a “Diff” on the messages to see what is new and what has already been provided. That will take a bit of time to get set up, probably a couple of days. Still, we should have an answer in short order. Of course, the Democrats, being criminals, are doing everything they can to torpedo the investigation. According to the Washington Times:
Democrats said the investigation has dragged on too long and been too expensive, pointing to the IRS’s estimate that it has spent $20 million on staff and equipment to try to comply with the committee’s request.
Would you care to know why it has gone on so long and cost so much? Because you scum have done everything in your power to obstruct and bury this investigation. There are several reasons why you want this investigation stopped.
One big one is that it might actually lead into the Oval Office. If it is shown that the Obama or one of his senior advisers, (Valarie Jarrett for one), knew about the illegal suppression of the conservative groups by the Internal Revenue Service, then you would have no choice but to remove Obama and the others from office.
Since the Democrat Party today would give La Cosa Nostra a run for its money as a crime syndicate, it’s not surprising at all that you will do whatever it takes to protect “The Godfather,” aka Barack Obama, aka King Putt. We might have to wait until the next Republican or independent president assumes office to finally get to the bottom of all the scandals covered up by the PLFD’s in the White House and Congress.
