Good day all. Last week Il Douche came up with yet another of his “Brilliant” ideas. He thinks it would be great if everyone were forced to vote on election day. Yes, just like Obamacare, if you don’t vote, you get fined and eventually go to prison.
Needless to say, this stupid idea is going nowhere fast. Now the thinking, (or what passes for thinking among Democrats), is simple. Their natural constituency, made up of the lazy, ignorant, leeches on society, generally can’t be bothered to vote. As long as their welfare checks keep coming in, they’re just fine. This causes Democrats not to win elections since the taxpayers are getting pretty fed up with supporting the useless class. Constitutionally, this won’t happen. Here are some details on all this from Fox News:
Mandatory voting might be a big boon for the Democratic Party, but the idea President Obama floated this week of forcing Americans to show up at the polls and cast ballots is never going to happen, legal experts told FoxNews.com. Obama made the comment while speaking to a civic group in Cleveland on Wednesday, noting that some countries require citizens to cast ballots in key elections.
Yeah, most of them don’t have a constitution, or one that is noted for it’s uselessness.
“If everybody voted, then it would completely change the political map in this country,” Obama said, calling it “potentially transformative.” Not only that, Obama said, but universal voting would “counteract money more than anything.”

That’s funny. No it wouldn’t. Even more money would be spent on all the morons who will show up to vote who, frankly, should just stay home, watch Oprah and crack open another can of malt liquor. Then there is that pesky problem called the Constitution of the United States.
“I don’t think you can do it in this country because I don’t think the First Amendment would permit it,” said Askin, who did say that automatic voter registration is a possibility. “People have a right to opt out of elections. It’s not happening.”
Now I will state for the record that I’ve voted in every election since I was eligible to do so. I consider it my civic duty, part of being a citizen of the greatest nation, (Prior to Obama of course), on Earth. The fact that so many people can’t be bothered to learn the issues and then vote is upsetting to me. However, forcing some ignorant crack whore to vote who’s only concerned where her next fix is coming from is a great way to wreck the system.
Voter turnout in the 2014 midterms was just 37 percent, according to the United States Election Project. Obama noted that universal voting would mean increasing the vote among the younger, poorer, less educated and more racially diverse segments of the population, a development that some experts believe might benefit Obama’s Democratic Party.
And the light bulb ignites. Of course the PLFD’s would love to get more stupid people to the polls. They can only rig elections for so long before real voters get fed up and drive them out. As we’ve all come to understand, Democrats, (and their RINO pals), only care about their power and privileges. Actually putting the nation first doesn’t even show up on their radar.
At least 18 countries — including Australia, Belgium, Egypt, Mexico and Turkey — require all eligible citizens to at least show up on election day, according to the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance.
Australia and Belgium mixed in with Turkey, Egypt and Mexico. Does anyone see a problem here? As to enforcement of those who don’t show up, I have no idea what the consequences may be. I’ve heard that Australia really doesn’t bother going after those who fail to vote, but I can’t say this is accurate. (I am prepared to be corrected)
Such a movement could start with states or be done in Washington, but would undoubtedly face legal challenges, according to Michael Kang, a law professor at Emory University.
Oregon just passed a law mandating voter registration for everyone. It’s so new that no one has had time to challenge the law in court. The chances for voter fraud are massive of course. It was done, primarily to aid the Democrats of course.
“It’s not that there’s lack of legal authority,” he said. “It’s totally conceivable that you could have a law like that in theory.” But, Kang added, “It’s not happening.”
Professor Kang doesn’t see this helping either party apparently.
Kang was also dubious that such a change in the law would benefit one party over the other. “An interesting take on this is that you could imagine it would change campaigning a little bit – because everyone would have to show up. There wouldn’t be as much emphasis on that,” Kang said, suggesting that would be more likely to actually hurt the Democrats – not the Republicans.
I think Professor Kang has spent way to much time in the classroom and not enough in the real world. As I’ve said before, the natural democrat voter is to lazy, stoned or drunk to bother going to the polls. The natural Republican voter is generally to busy working his or her ass off to pay the taxes to support the natural democrat voter, otherwise they would go to the polls to vote the scum and villainy out of office.
Another scholar who agreed that a law requiring voting might pass constitutional muster was Michael McDonald, an associate professor of political science at the University of Florida.
A political science professor? The modern equivalent of underwater basket weaving.
“Absolutely states could do this on their own,” McDonald said. “It could also be a federal law.”
I looked up this professor. Looking at his resume, I can see why he thinks this could be done. The phrase “Barking Moonbat” comes to mind.
McDonald said the likelihood is nil, but that he was not surprised Obama likes the idea. “It’s not surprising to me that a Democrat would be making that argument,” he said. “There are a number of surveys that have been done that demonstrate the massive people who tend not to vote are Democratic in nature.
See my remarks above.
“A wishful statement about Obama about having higher turnout is not something that’s going to lead to an executive order or even a state trying to implement a law like this. I think he was making a bit of a joke.”
No, I don’t think Der Fubar was joking in the least. Obama’s grasp of the Constitution is tenuous at best, and is generally outweighed by his utter contempt for it. If Obama could issue an EO saying everyone will vote or face a massive fine, he would do it. Then he would start the ball rolling to make sure that only Democrats were the ones who benefit from this.
One of the problems we’re facing today is a massive national debt and an out of control bureaucracy. Right now, enough voters show up to vote down, (at least on the local level), the stupid ideas that are now bankrupting the country.
Once enough of the Taker group votes their interests, and start really raiding the treasury and the pockets of the productive groups, you will see the economy collapse followed quickly by the United States. Think it can’t happen? Take a look at Greece today. That can happen here.
