Good day all. Just when you thought former Mayor Marion Barry and his crack habit were out of the picture, here comes another story regarding crack cocaine in the mayor’s office.
According to Fox News, one of the current mayor’s staffers was busted for dealing. Here are the details on the most recent embarrassment from the unhallowed halls of the City of Washington, D.C.
A staffer in the Washington, D.C., mayoral office has been arrested in connection with drug possession and attempted distribution after police purportedly found more than 120 grams of cocaine, suspected heroin and drug-related paraphernalia in his home, according to news reports.
The staffer, Lorenzo R. Sanders, works in the religious affairs office of D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser, a Democrat, as reported first by The Washington Post.
The religious affairs office? Considering the full court press against Judaism and Christianity currently underway by the Progressives, what religion would that be? Must be either Islam or the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. I also like how Fox is using the Mostly Stupid Media’s ways of either protecting or embarrassing the political parties. Usually you have to play “Guess the party.”
He was reportedly arrested Tuesday after members of a SWAT team and U.S. Park Police raided his District home. The 51-year-old Sanders was reportedly indicted Thursday on federal charges alleging he attempted to distribute the cocaine.
A SWAT team? Why did they need a swat team? Oh, I know. They like playing with their toys. Let’s be honest here. They could have waited until he was out of the house, or even in his office and simply walked in and arrested him, but that would have been to easy. So what did they find in this Democrat’s house when they searched it?
During the raid, police also found roughly 10 grams of suspected crack cocaine, less than one gram of suspected heroin, $2,000 in cash, a digital scale and three un-used ski masks, according to court document obtained by The Post and other news-gathering agencies.
Last I heard, having a ski mask wasn’t illegal, but then this is Washington D.C. Who knows what is legal and illegal down there? Frankly, the story shouldn’t have bothered mentioning anything other than the drugs.
Sanders reportedly has a 1985 conviction for selling heroin. He was hired by the Bowser administration in 2012 and has been placed on administrative leave.
The administration issued a statement saying it “does not tolerate employees who violate the public trust” and that Sanders’ work space was made available to the police.
Actually, that statement should read “does not tolerate employees who get caught violating the public trust.”
The statement also said that Sanders is a career service employee, not an appointee, which means he cannot be immediately terminated.
So he will be getting full pay and benefits even after he gets out of prison in 15 years? Or will he be vested by then and eligible for retirement benefits?
Sanders’s son, Dominick Saunders, was also arrested Tuesday when police raided his suburban Maryland home and reportedly found roughly eight grams of crack cocaine.
Nice to see that this was a family business. We have so few of those left in Washington these days. I wonder if they will have a family cell? As for the mayor and the rest of the D.C. kleptocrats? They should be reelected with no issues.
