Good day all. A few days ago, a criminal made the mistake of holding a place that had a person carrying a concealed firearm on site. The criminal did not survive the error he made.
Normally, when an incident like this happens, there is a quick investigation to make sure it was a good shooting. Most of the time it is, since people who carry firearms lawfully are usually better prepared for a situation than most police officers. This isn’t a slight on police, they have a lot more to do and don’t spend as much time, in general on the subject than an armed citizen.
Then we have the fact that this happened in Chicago. Until recently, the only people who could carry a gun were police and criminals. Police, since it is part of the job requirement, and to some extent it’s also a job requirement for criminals. The citizens? Their job was basically to die at the hands of criminals.
Thanks to a number of court decisions, Chicago and Illinois were dragged kicking and screaming into following the Constitution. They set up requirements, (Fairly onerous in my opinion), for people to get CCW permits. Now, the first wave of citizens with CCW’s and guns are out there and the criminals are starting to drop like flies, such as one Reginald Gildersleeve. Here are the details from Fox News:
A masked man, later identified as 55-year-old Reginald Gildersleeve, walked into the store and currency exchange about 7 p.m. Saturday on the city’s southwest side, displayed a handgun and announced a robbery to an employee, police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said. The gunman next pointed his weapon at another employee and forced her to the back of the store.
And this is where things went rather badly for the late Mr. Gildersleeve.
The armed customer then fatally shot the man multiple times, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Gildersleeve was pronounced dead on the scene at 7:10 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He had an extensive criminal history, including prior arrests for robbery, the Sun-Times reported. Gildersleeve was set to have an autopsy performed on Sunday, according to the Chicago Tribune.
This is where things start to get silly. It seems that the late Mr. Guildersleeve’s family took exception to the armed citizen canceling “Reggie’s” rap and breathing contract. (These incidents always seem to have the dead criminal about to sign a Rap Music contract) In another article by the Daily Caller, The formerly living criminal’s family complained about the number of bullets that the citizen used.
The family of a Chicago man gunned down during a robbery attempt are calling for his shooter, a concealed weapon permit-holder, to be prosecuted for the shooting. The Washington Post is helping to further that effort, suggesting the failed robbery could even be a Halloween prank gone horribly wrong.
Police say Saturday night Reginald Gildersleeve walked into the small bodega Agencia Mexicana while wearing a mask and announced a holdup, whipping out what appeared to be gun. Moments later he was gunned down by an unnamed patron.
It was later discovered that Gildersleeve’s gun was a paintball gun.

Chicago police are treating the case as rather open-and-shut. Even if Gildersleeve wasn’t carrying a real gun, he was brandishing like it was, and the shooter acted accordingly. But now, Gildersleeve’s family is calling for charges to be levied, saying that the habitual criminal didn’t deserve to die.
Actually, yes he did. Come into a business, wearing a mask and waving what appears to be a gun, don’t be surprised to find yourself suffering from copper jacketed lead poisoning.
Igbinosa Oronsaye, Gildersleeve’s stepson, told The Chicago Tribune the shooter overreacted in shooting multiple times.
“Some people don’t actually know how to use guns,” Oronsaye said. “They go to firing ranges, but it’s not the same as a bullet going into someone’s body, it’s not the same as a bullet going into flesh. They should be able to wound first, kill next. He didn’t deserve to get shot multiple times.”
This idiot probably has lost his right to keep and bear arms, although I don’t know that as a fact. He definitely has no clue on how people are trained to shoot in that sort of situation. You do NOT shoot to wound. You shoot to stop the attack and you aim at center mass. (That’s the chest area for those of you in Moonbat land)
Oronsaye also said the shooter needed to be punished for killing a member of the community. “You just took a brother, you just took a father from a lot of people. Somebody’s got to answer for that,” he said.
Somebody did answer for it. That was Reginald Gildersleeve. If he hadn’t tried to rob a store with a toy gun, or rob a store in the first place, then he would still be alive and smoking crack. Believe it or not, this moron actually has some support from one of the Mostly Stupid Media outlets.
The family’s argument is being pushed along by The Washington Post, where writer Michael Miller says the shooting is “raising questions.” Miller wrote up Gildersleeve’s death Monday morning in a manner that seems intended to frame Gildersleeve in the best possible light. Miller, for instance, describes the shooting as “mysterious” because it “occurred on Halloween and involved a man in a mask with a fake gun,” although robberies with fake guns happen all the time.
Miller then says the robbery was all one big misunderstanding, because Gildersleeve was reportedly a former employee of Agencia Mexicana and knew the owner. “Was the shooting a Halloween prank gone horribly wrong?” he asks.
No, it wasn’t. Consider what the result would have been if a couple of Chicago’s finest happened by as the recently deceased put on his mask and pulled his gun. You would have had both officers do pretty much the same thing, except they would have both emptied their magazines and probably missed with most of their shots. (Police generally aren’t the greatest shots around. Lack of practice primarily)
The incident would have been investigated, the usual suspects in the poverty pimping business, (Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, etc), would be out their trying to start a race war with lots of riots, looting and burning.
However, it wasn’t a police officer, it was a citizen, and Chicago has already come to the conclusion it was a justified shooting. According to Fox News:
Chicago police said Monday they won’t charge a customer with a concealed carry license who shot and killed an armed man during an attempted robbery of a store on the city’s southwest side. Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says investigators classified the shooting as self-defense after they reviewed witness statements and surveillance videos from the store and currency exchange.
I have no doubt that this rotting corpse’s family, after registering him to vote Democrat, is going to start looking for a shyster lawyer to sue the citizen. They might find one, since there are plenty of lawyers out there with ethics equal to those of Hillary Clinton, but the case would probably be thrown out of court.
After that, if it actually got as far as filing papers, and the citizen had to spend some money on a lawyer, I suspect he would go after them to recover his costs, and if there’s any justice, go after the family’s lawyer as well. Personally, I doubt it will even get to the filing stage. Lawyers like to be paid and taking on a client who has no case is a great way to go bankrupt. Hats off to the citizen for being there and to Chicago for doing the right thing.
