Good day all. Yesterday there was a shooting in San Bernadino, California that killed 14 people and wounded a number of others. The attack was apparently well planned and the shooters initially were successful in evading the police.
Later that day, they were found and engaged in a gun battle with the police and were killed. Ever since the first reports about the incident, the Mostly Stupid Media along with Law Enforcement spokesmen have been trying to avoid using the word “Terrorism.” Once the shooters were taken down, Law Enforcement suddenly clamped down on any real details on the killers. Now we know why.
It was a husband and wife team and both were devout Muslims. While the husband was born in the United States, his wife appears to be Saudi. They were well armed, both with rifles, at least one handgun and a number of pipe bombs and other explosive devices. It does appear that the man worked with the group he shot up, and this is why so many on the left are clinging to the “Workplace spree shooting” theory. However, the very nature of the attack, the planning and preparation shows that this was a planned some time in advance.
As you would expect from him, President Barack “No Balls” Obama promptly called for gun control. You are also hearing the usual suspects on the left demanding everything up to and including outright confiscation of privately owned firearms. They are also doing back flips to avoid saying that this was an Islamic Terrorist attack against a soft target.
The noise to signal ratio on the various social media sites as well as assorted forums was extremely high during the first 12 to 24 hours. The Progressives, in their desire to push their agenda, promptly accused the Tea party, gun owners, the National Rifle Association and the Republican party of being responsible for the attack. The one group they steadfastly refused to consider as possible responsible were Muslim Terrorists. Oops!
Now I will be the first to say that I wasn’t sure it was a RIF attack. The normal style for these sorts of attacks is they stay in place, slaughtering as many people as possible and then get into a fight with the first responders, with the ending being either the RIF’s getting shot and killed or blowing themselves up. In this case, the shooters went into the conference room, opened fire for about 2-3 minutes and then left and drove away before the police could get there.
This led several people to wonder if this wasn’t a Drug Cartel hit of some sort, possibly the Zeta’s doing a cross border raid. (I was following several faceplant threads yesterday and that was one of the possibilities brought up) Later on, when the reports of the police shootout with the terrorists came out, a witness said he caught a glance of one of the terrorists and described him as dark haired and “scruffy.” My first thought when I heard that was that it was a Mexican Cartel hit of some sort. Now we know differently.
Obviously, the “72 hour rule” is now in effect. For those who aren’t aware of this rule, basically, we should wait 72 hours after the conclusion of an event like this to get accurate facts. The initial reports inside of the first 72 hours are usually incorrect. Eventually, we will learn why these two decided to go Jihad.
One big question is, did they start the planning before Paris or afterward? If the latter, then this was probably a copycat attack of sorts. If the former, then we might have seen the first attack by a terrorist cell. In any case, I have a bad feeling that this is only the beginning. Considering that ISIS is doing a virtual hamster dance all over the internet, not to mention Der Fubar’s plans to import 10,000 more potential terrorists, the odds of more such attacks is a certainty.
Around the country, we’re seeing an interesting dichotomy of responses. We have the “Lets confiscate guns” crowd, led by the King Putt, making their usual noises. On the other hand, we have Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Arizona calling for gun owners in his state to prepare to defend against Islamic terror attacks. In Detroit, we have Obama’s least favorite black Chief of police, James Craig, saying that armed citizens will deter terrorist attacks. While I disagree with that, preventing attacks, having armed citizens right there will throw a big wrench into the RIF’s plans. They don’t handle getting shot at by their victims to well.
Another thing that showed the true nature of the Progressives was the call for a moment of silence and a prayer for those killed and wounded in the attack. The left went absolutely nuts at that. The New York Daily News announced that “God isn’t fixing this” and then blasted Republicans for offering a moment of silence and prayer instead of banning private ownership of guns. All across Twitter we saw the Progressives blasting the Republicans and demanding gun control.
This attack, and no doubt others in the future will have one definite effect. Right now a majority of people support the second amendment. More attacks, especially if any are stopped or interfered with by gun owners will drive a stake into the heart of the gun banners. In a worst case scenario, politicians calling for more gun control in light of these attacks could be charged with treason. (Granted, that is a near impossibility) what will probably happen is laws restoring the Second Amendment being passed, both on the local and in all probability, the federal level. In any case, be on guard. If you have a gun and can lawfully carry it, do so. You are the first line of defense against the whackjobs and RIF’s, not the police.
