Jeb! Bush’s trademark abandoned?

Good day all and Happy New Years Eve! Tomorrow will be the first day of 2016 and that means the campaigns get serious. However, one campaign seems to be having a few problems. Yes, that would be the Jeb! Bush campaign.

Jeb obama bush

It seems that Governor Jeb! “I have $100 million in the bank” Bush applied for a trademark on his tag line, “Jeb!” but now it seems he’s abandoned the trademark. Here are a few details from The Week:

According to Mother Jones, Bush trademarked “Jeb!” last winter under the name of BHAG LLC. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office accepted the submission for the trademark, and asked for more information, as they are wont to do:

But according to that office, on November 9, Bush’s application was officially abandoned. Technically, Bush has until January 9 to restart the process, but for now the name is un-trademarked and open for anyone else to try to grab.

Now why would anyone want to trademark “Jeb!” is beyond me. It’s not like the name is going to be useful for much longer. Still, according to Mother Jones the Bush Fiasco Campaign planned on using the trademark to stamp “Jeb!” on the usual election swag we see every four years.

Bush wanted the name reserved for use on leather key chains, stadium cushions, stemware, stuffed toys, hair bands, and other cool stuff.

Cool stuff? Well, for die hard RINO’s and members of the Bush family, maybe. For everyone else, not so much. So what happened with his trademark application?

In April, the USPTO asked BHAG to provide, within six months, written consent from Bush himself to use his name. Bush never responded. So the USPTO issued an abandonment notice regarding the trademark request.

double-facepalm

Bush couldn’t be bothered to sign a consent form? I guess Trump was right about Bush being “Low Energy.” Trump, on the other hand, did take care of his trademark.

But Bush’s chief antagonist, Donald Trump, did find the time to re-up his hold on “Trump,” and he added a trademark claim to cover the use of his name for books on how to succeed in business and politics.

Bush has been using his experience as Governor of Florida to show why he should be president. If he couldn’t even take the 2 minutes to sign consent form for his Trademark, a form that one of his overpaid staffers should have had ready the moment he put in the trademark application, then I would question his alleged competence.

Macaque-Selfie

As for Trump? Well, he is a businessman who understands that the “Devil is in the details” and knows that it’s the little things like this that can sink a deal. And just so you know, I still haven’t decided for or against Trump. I am enjoying the show however.
