In the annuls of utter hypocrisy, Juan! Bush just took the cake. Bush, who, through his superpac, raised and then blew over $100 million dollars, announced that as president, he would get rid of Citizens United.
A brief refresher on the Citizens United vs the FEC case. A few years ago, the Supreme Court ruled that corporations have the same 1st amendment rights as everyone else, and that they could spend money on political campaigns. This caused the Progressives heads to explode. Many of the Progressive Liberal Fascist Democrats announced that they wanted to pass an amendment to the constitution, essentially gutting the 1st Amendment.
The reason being that prior to the Citizens United decision, most of the money that was raised came from Unions and other left wing groups, with corporations prevented from doing the same. Generally, the Republicans understood that the decision actually leveled the playing field a bit and defended the decision…Until now. Here are the details from CNN:
Despite being backed by the monumental Right to Rise super PAC, Jeb Bush said Monday he would “eliminate” the Supreme Court decision that paved the way for super PACs.
“If I could do it all again I’d eliminate the Supreme Court ruling” Citizens United, Bush told CNN’s Dana Bash. “This is a ridiculous system we have now where you have campaigns that struggle to raise money directly and they can’t be held accountable for the spending of the super PAC that’s their affiliate.”
Needless to say, the sharks Bush was trying to jump over, (and failed to), struck.
Not long after Bush made his comments, Donald Trump — who often touts that he is not using a super PAC — mocked Bush on Twitter.
“Now that Bush has wasted $120 million of special interest money on his failed campaign, he says he would end super PACs. Sad!” Trump tweeted.
Bush then doubled down on his stupidity and grabed onto one of the PLFD’s major talking points, a constitutional amendment.
In order to counter the court ruling, Bush has said he would seek a constitutional convention, where he would also push for term limits and balanced budget amendment.
As you can see, Juan! Bush understands that this would never make it through congress, which is why he is talking about an Article V convention. However, this idiocy wouldn’t make it through a convention either, never mind being passed by the states.
David Bossie, president of Citizens United, whose group won the landmark court ruling in 2010, accused Bush of siding with liberals.
“Jeb Bush’s true colors just resurfaced,” Bossie said Monday. “He has embraced the left’s view of the First Amendment. Jeb Bush now agrees with Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders to limit free speech in America.”
And Bush has just been nuked from orbit. One of the reasons Juan Ernesto Arbusto has cratered in the polls, in spite of the $100+ million he started with, is stupidity like this. His positions are totally out of touch with those of the Republican base and easily half the American population. First he’s all for the Common Core educational system, which is despised by pretty much everyone, then he announces that illegal immigration is “An act of love,” and now this. Bush should have just stayed out of the race. As it is, he’s going to be humiliated tonight when the Primary polls close in New Hampshire.
