Good day all. Am I prescient or not? No sooner do I post about the glorious British people regaining their freedom from the tyrannical Bureaucrats of Brussels than I see a news story that the Labour party is looking to arrange a “Corbxit.”
In the aftermath of Brexit, the current Prime Minister, David Cameron, announced he would resign from office after his spectacular failure to keep Great Britain in the European Union. He will be leaving 10 Downing Street in October and the current favorite to replace him is Boris Johnson.
Now comes news that several members of the Labour Party are filing a “No Confidence” motion against the current head of the Labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn. Here are some of the details from Reuters via Yahoo News:
Two members of Britain’s main opposition Labour Party submitted a motion of no confidence in their leader, Jeremy Corbyn, on Friday after the country voted to leave the European Union at a referendum – something Corbyn had campaigned against.
The motion, submitted by lawmaker Margaret Hodge and backed by colleague Ann Coffey, calls for a debate on Corbyn’s leadership among the party’s parliamentary representatives when it next meets on Monday. If supported at a later secret ballot, it could then trigger a leadership contest.
Several Labour members have criticized Corbyn, who was elected leader last year on a wave of enthusiasm for his left-leaning agenda, for failing to persuade voters in his party’s heartlands in northern England and elsewhere to vote to remain.
“In a leader you need somebody who can communicate a message and inspire confidence in that message and I think he failed on both counts during the referendum campaign and therefore I don’t think he should be leader of the party,” Coffey told Reuters.
“I will say to people, you can win the election or you can have Corbyn as leader but you can’t have both.”
Congratulations! You are now discovering what the GOP(e) found out this year. The voters are sick of being lied to and are now taking matters into their own hands. Considering how badly the European Union has screwed the average British citizen, (Or do they still sue the term Subject?), are you really that surprised that they’d turn against you as quickly as the rank and file Tory voters did with Cameron?
“What we saw yesterday was swathes of Labour voters simply not voting Labour. Jeremy Corbyn could not connect with the people we needed to attract,” Hodge told Sky News.
Everything I’ve seen regarding Corbyn’s leadership, and I will be the first to admit it isn’t all that much, is that he couldn’t connect to the average working Labour Party member, (As opposed to those on the Dole), if he used Velcro and Gorilla Glue. Unlike with the Tories, I have no idea who is in the wings on the Labour side. Somehow, I don’t think it will be Jeremy Clarkson.
