Good day all. For the last few weeks, we’ve been barraged with polls saying that Trump was going to be buried by Cankles in the general election. However, a poll was released the other day that seemed to show that Trump and Cankles were neck and turkey wattle. (Trump being the one with a neck)
Now a new poll just released by Rasmussen indicates that Trump is starting to pull ahead of Clinton. According to Rasmussen Reports:
The tables have turned in this week’s White House Watch. After trailing Hillary Clinton by five points for the prior two weeks, Donald Trump has now taken a four-point lead. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey of Likely U.S. Voters finds Trump with 43% of the vote, while Clinton earns 39%. Twelve percent (12%) still like another candidate, and five percent (5%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
Of course, they had to throw in the caveat that this might just be an outlier.
Last week at this time, it was Clinton 44%, Trump 39%. This is Trump’s highest level of support in Rasmussen Reports’ matchups with Clinton since last October. His support has been hovering around the 40% mark since April, but it remains to be seen whether he’s just having a good week or this actually represents a real move forward among voters.
I’m not going to go into the details of the poll or it’s methodology. I’ll let other far better than I handle that. There are a few things that need to be considered. First, Trump has spent no money on advertising, and Clinton has sunk millions into paid ads over the last month. Also, I think this poll was taken after the Brexit vote last week. Trump is also moving into “General Election Campaign Mode,” and is starting to give prepared speeches laying out his policies.
It will take a few more weeks of polls to see if there is a trend, and we do have the conventions coming up. There is also the FBI Veto on Cankles run for office, although after yesterday’s secret meeting between Loretta Lynch and Bill Clinton, many people think the fix is in on that. Still, if this holds up, we may be looking at President Trump soon.
