Good day all. Just as I put up my last post, police caught the Islamic bomber that they had been looking for. I had to go to a meeting so I wasn’t able to write a follow up post.
The Muslim bomber did not go without a fight and engaged the police in a gun battle. One officer was hit in the torso, but thanks to his body armor, was not seriously injured. Other officers engaged the terrorist and wounded him. Here are some details from Fox News:
The Afghan immigrant who authorities believe planted bombs in New Jersey and New York this weekend was captured Monday after a dramatic gun battle with police that was sparked when officers found him sleeping in the doorway of a bar.
Obviously, this Islamic goat molester isn’t the brightest bulb in the lamp. If you are trying not to be found, sleeping in a doorway is not one of your better choices.
Officials had launched a dragnet earlier Monday in search of Ahmad Khan Rahami, the 28-year-old naturalized U.S. citizen who was identified as the primary person of interest in the Saturday night blast in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood, an explosion in New Jersey’s Seaside Park on Saturday morning and a foiled bomb attack Sunday night near a train station in Elizabeth, NJ.
The foiled attack was pure luck. A couple of guys found the back pack in the trash and thought it was a nice find. (If it’s in the trash, it’s open season) When they opened it down the road, they found the bombs and, after soiling themselves, called the police. The bomb squad tried to disarm it but made a slight “Oopsy!” resulting in one robot being turned into scrap and the other needed some time in the body shop. Still, better than people.
The hunt for Rahami turned out to be brief. A bar owner in Linden, NJ spotted a man sleeping in his doorway Monday morning and called police.
No doubt it his call went something like “Yeah, I got a bum sleeping in my doorway. Can you send someone down to roust please?
An officer confronted the man around 10:45 a.m., and soon recognized the person as Rahami, officials said. Rahami pulled out a gun and shot the officer — who was wearing a bulletproof vest — in the abdomen, and more officers soon joined in a running gun battle with Rahami.
The officer was very lucky. Even though his vest stopped the bullet, it’s still like being hit with a baseball bat. Ahmad the dumb terrorist could have followed up by firing several more rounds int the officer including his head.
A second police officer was injured by glass shards during the gun fight, authorities said. Both officers were expected to be okay.
Rahami was shot at least once in the leg and eventually brought down and captured alive, Union County Prosecutor Grace Park said. He was taken to University Hospital in Newark where he underwent surgery, Fox News confirmed.
I hope they didn’t waste any anesthetic on this guy. Just dig the slugs out with a pair of needle nosed pliers. If they’re feeling generous, wash them first. Now they can squeeze this guy for information, especially since they think there are others involved.
Two U.S. officials told Reuters on Monday that the bomb plot likely involved several individuals, a revelation that came hours after federal authorities on Sunday night conducted a traffic stop in Brooklyn of a “vehicle of interest” in the bombings.
Now the “Usual suspects” are trying to play down any indications that this was an Islamic attack and that others were involved.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio noted during a Monday news conference that authorities weren’t currently searching for any other suspects. The assistant director of the FBI’s field office in New York, William Sweeney Jr., said “there is no indication that there’s a cell” in the area.
Here’s the problem. We know that Obama’s instructions to federal law enforcement agencies is to ignore or downplay anything that smacks of Islamic Terrorism. We’ve seen it over and over again, and they will continue denying any Islamic threat right up until the Nuke goes off in a major American city, or until Donald Trump is sworn in and cleans out the Obama trash in the bureaucracy. As always though, the 72 hour rule is in effect.
