Good day all. Shortly after President Trump won the election, the barking moonbats of California began to initiate what they are calling “Calexit.” This is a take off on “Brexit,” which was the nickname given to the vote by Britain to leave the European Union.
When this movement started, a number of people, including myself, mocked them. Others, including World Renowned author and firearms expert, Larry Corriea, cheered the morons on. Now, the moonbats have moved forward and are close to putting the issue on the ballot. Here are some details from Fox News:
A proposal for California to secede from the United States was submitted to the Secretary of State’s Office Thursday. The proposed “Calexit” initiative – its name borrowed from the UK’s “Brexit” departure from the EU – would ask voters to repeal part of the state constitution that declares California an inseparable part of the U.S.
Hate to be the one to break it to you, but that vote will be meaningless. The decision on states leaving the union was settled in 1865. Still, feel free to run with this.
A recent poll found that one in three California residents would support a possible secession from the U.S. due to their opposition to President Trump. No mention has been made of the president in the proposal.
If the proposal qualifies for the ballot and is approved by voters, it could be a step to a future vote on whether the state would break away from the rest of the nation.
Yeah, not going to happen, but don’t let me stop you.
Secretary of State Alex Padilla said the group behind the proposal, Yes California Independence Campaign, was cleared to begin attempting to collect nearly 600,000 voter signatures needed to place the plan on the ballot.
“In our view, the United States of America represents so many things that conflict with Californian values, and our continued statehood means California will continue subsidizing the other states to our own detriment, and to the detriment of our children,” the Yes campaign’s website says.
The stupid is strong in this one. If California were to be allowed to leave, which it won’t…damnit, all that will happen is it’s rapid decline into a third world economic hellhole. But, who am I to dissuade you in your suicide attempt?
The proposed constitutional amendment, titled California Nationhood, would also ask voters to repeal language that states the U.S. Constitution is the supreme law. If approved, it calls for scheduling a vote in 2019 to ask voters, “Should California become a free, sovereign and independent country?”
“America already hates California, and America votes on emotions,” Marcus Evans, vice president of Yes California told the Los Angeles Times. “I think we’d have the votes today if we held it.”
And now for a dose of reality. To begin with, it won’t be the entire state that would actually secede if it ever reached that point. Large sections won’t go. I’m given to understand that northern California would choose to remain in the union, as well as inland farming sections and probably the areas with military bases. (Think San Diego) This basically leaves Los Angeles County, San Francisco and the coastal belt with some inland sections such as Silicon Valley and Sacramento.
Now if these areas left, and the others remained, how long would the new “Nation” survive? Granted the land area would be significant, but there are a few issues. Right off the bat, water. Currently, the drought out there was just broken by a series of massive storms. However, being that the state is run by idiots, fools, moonbats and Democrats, a lot of that water is already on it’s way to the ocean instead of storage facilities.
Areas such as L.A. County do not have enough water to sustain them. If “Calexit” were to occur, the new nation would lose access to all sorts of rivers and aquifers. Then there is the issue of electricity. California is not an energy exporting state. It doesn’t have enough power plants to energize the state and no amount of windmills and solar panels will make up the difference. The only thing that could is nuclear, and the moonbats are against that.
So, if California did break away, a significant section would break right back to the United States and instead of losing one state, we would probably get 2-3 more. Now since it is the coastal areas in the new nation of “The People’s Democratic Republic of Freedonia”, and that is where the wealthiest residents live, then the new nation will have lots of money to play with.
This is true, right up until the 1 percenters get tired of having all their money and property stolen from them by the new rulers. Then they will beat feet out of there. Pity none of them will be readmitted into the United States, since they surrendered their citizenship when they split away. Well, there’s always Canada.
Finally we have another little detail that these knotheads haven’t considered. When they start running out of other people’s money, and start making Venezuela look like the height of fiscal responsibility in comparison, they might consider renting land to foreign governments, such as China, as military bases. I have no doubt China would love to set up bases on the North American continent. The problem is, we won’t let them.
As soon as it became known that the People’s Republic of Freedonia is leasing bases to a hostile, (or for that matter, any), power, the United States will invade. The conquest should take a day or so. As for all the former citizens of Feedonia? Well, I suspect any survivors will probably be deported to their previous homeland of Mexico, along with all their supporters.
But, who am I to stop you from voting to secede? Personally, I can’t wait to see you go. When reality smashes you in the head and you are begging to be let back into the union, I will be there laughing in your faces.

When you come to us, hat in hand, begging for money, I will be there, telling you to get out you deadbeat. Eventually, you will starve to death or die of thirst, and then the rest of us will move back in, dispose of the bodies, clean things up and resettle the area with actual normal people. So, feel free to leave. All I will say is…

“Yeah, not going to happen, but don’t let me stop you.”
You never know, Congress just might have a sudden burst of sanity and let then go.
