Good day all. As we approach the Kentucky Derby, there are a few people at Churchill Downs who might be thinking of saddling up the thoroughbreds and making a run for it.

It seems that a few of them might not be in the country legally and think that ICE may be coming for a visit. Here’s the story from the Associated (With Antifa) Press:
Workers making preparations for Saturday’s Kentucky Derby worry that anti-immigrant fervor in Washington could cause many of them to be deported.
As long as they’re in the United States lawfully, then they have nothing to worry about. As for the Associated (With criminals) Press, it’s not “Anti-immigrant” it’s “Illegal Aliens”.
Trainers on the backside of Churchill Downs say there’s a shortage of qualified workers to clean stalls, bathe horses and cool them down after workouts.
A shortage of qualified shit shovelers? And how hard is it to hose down a horse? Granted I’m no expert, but it shouldn’t take more than an hour or so to teach someone how to do it. I will say cooling down a horse might take upwards of a day or so to properly train someone, mostly so they learn how to control the animal as they walk him or her around after a run.
They fear that a Trump administration crackdown on immigration will be a calamity both for racetracks and many of the workers.
I think they should be more worried about themselves. The illegals will be shipped back to the third world hellholes they came from. I think we’re going to start seeing some prosecutions for knowingly hiring illegals.
One man has kept working even though his visa expired a couple years ago. If he wasn’t working with racehorses, he says he probably would be working in avocado fields in Mexico.

Many workers at the track work legally under the H-2B visa program, but it has limited slots. The crunch has worsened since a “returning worker” exemption expired last September. Congress has not re-authorized the exemption.
I will state for the record that I don’t know anything at all about the H2B program. Since I don’t know anything about it, or what it’s for, I won’t comment on whether or not it should be renewed. To be honest, there must be plenty of kids who can do some or all of these jobs, and Pedro can go home and pick avocados.
I think that the Associated (With Terrorists) Press might have just done America a service. I don’t think they intended to, but they have. Now ICE has a nice target to hit and they can thank Associated (With Moonbats). I think it will be poetic if a story by AP, meant to generate sympathy for the plight of criminals blows up in their faces.

As someone much brighter than me stated (not specific to horse racing or any other industry), “If your business model relies on cheap illegal labor, then get a better business model.”
