Good day all. Last night, President Donald Trump issued his first Presidential pardon to former Sheriff Joe Arpaio. The reason for the pardon was the blatant political trial initiated by the Obama Regime for contempt of court.
Joe Arpaio was tried for one simple reason. Obama hated him and hated the fact that as sheriff of Maricopa County in Arizona, he went after illegal aliens and didn’t coddle regular criminals who ended up in his jail. He was convicted by a judge after a bench trial. Here are the details from Fox News:
President Trump granted a pardon to Joe Arpaio, the former sheriff of Maricopa County, Ariz., on Friday.
Arpaio, 85, was recently found guilty of criminal contempt for defying a judge’s order to stop traffic patrols that allegedly targeted immigrants. He had been charged with misdemeanor contempt of court for allegedly willfully defying a judge’s order in 2011 and prolonging his patrols for another 17 months.
Arizona, like many of the states bordering Mexico, has been dealing with literally 10’s of thousands of criminal aliens. During the Obama Maladministration, rather then secure the borders, it was Obama’s policy to throw them open and allow pretty much anyone in. As sheriff, Joe Arpaio went after those who were not here legally and tried to turn them over to the Border patrol.
This annoyed the Proglodytes in the Justice Department and they made it their job to destroy Sheriff Arpaio. They finally rigged things so they could get him and finally did. The indictment was handed down just 2 weeks before the election, which sank Sheriff Arpaio’s campaign. His replacement? And open borders, illegal alien coddling moonbat.
Arpaio acknowledged extending the patrols, but insisted it wasn’t intentional, blaming one of his former attorneys for not properly explaining the importance of the court order and brushing off the conviction as a “petty crime.” He was expected to be sentenced on Oct. 5 and faced up to six months in jail if convicted.
And if Felonia von Pantsuit had won the election, you can bet Joe Arpaio would have been sent to a federal prison, and in all probability, he would have died in there, which was probably the intent of the Obama Regime all along. Thankfully, President Trump ended that yesterday.
“Sheriff Joe Arpaio is now 85 years old, and after more than 50 years of admirable service to our Nation, he is worthy candidate for a Presidential pardon,” the White House said in a statement.
“I am pleased to inform you that I have just granted a full Pardon to 85 year old American patriot Sheriff Joe Arpaio,” the president tweeted on Friday night. “He kept Arizona safe!”
Arpaio thanked Trump in an earlier tweet, saying that his conviction was the result of a “political witch hunt by holdovers in the Obama justice department.”
Which it was. I would like to know when is Attorney General Sessions going to remove his thumb from his ass and do a full blown purge of all the Obama scum, brought in by Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch, and then begin criminal proceedings against Holder for Contempt of Congress. Recently, President Trump went to Arizona for a public event and many thought that was when he would issue the Pardon. There was some disappointment when it wasn’t done then, however, I suspect that Trump was looking at the politics of the situation. As it was, the delay was only a couple of days, and a grave injustice has been undone.
At a rally in Phoenix, on Tuesday, the president asked supporters in the crowd if Arpaio was “convicted for doing his job?”
“He should have had a jury, but I’ll make a prediction: He’ll be just fine,” Trump said. “But I won’t do it tonight, because I don’t want to cause any controversy.”
In other words, President Trump probably had all the paperwork done and was just looking for the right time to do it. Another thing I’ve been wondering, is why Joe Arpaio had a bench trial in front of just a judge rather then a full jury trial? Was that his choice, or was something procedural done by the DoJ to help fix things? I suspect that if there had been a jury, Sheriff Arpaio wold have been acquitted, or there would have been a hung jury. Meanwhile, the idiots came out starting with Arizona senator, Jeff Flake, (RINO-AZ)
But Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., who has had a public feud with Trump in recent weeks, was unsupportive of the move.
“Regarding the Arpaio pardon,” Flake wrote on Twitter. “I would have preferred that the President honor the judicial process and let it take its course.”
Flake is up for reelection in 2018, and this is not going to help him. Flake has been a NeverTrumper from the very beginning, and his poll numbers have been cratering. The odds of him surviving his primary are dropping daily, and remarks like this show the base that he really is nothing more then a fraud and a dirtbag.
During the presidential campaign, Arpaio showered Trump with support. Trump, meanwhile, has invoked Arpaio’s name in his calls for tougher immigration enforcement and used some of the same immigration rhetoric and advocated for tactics that made the former Arizona lawman a national name a decade earlier.
And since President Trump took office, illegal border crossings from Mexico have dropped by a good 75 percent. While some are complaining about construction of the “Trump Wall” not already finished, the very fact that we have a president who wants to defend our borders, for the first time in decades, is refreshing. Joe Arpaio was ahead of his time, and paid the price for it with a political trial and conviction. President Trump has corrected that error.
