Good day all. It’s been a while since I did a dedicated “Stupid Criminals of the Week” post. To many of the crimes of late have been violent and not something to make fun of. However, we finally have a winner.
In this case, we have a real Bonnie and Clyde couple. It seems these two blithering idiots were visiting the Kingdom of Thailand, got stinking drunk and then decided to decorate an ancient wall. It’s not turning out very well for them. Here are the details from Fox News:
Two tourists facing 10 years in jail for graffiti-tagging an ancient wall in Thailand say they were “ridiculously drunk” when they pulled off the stunt.

Canadian Brittany Schneider, 22, and British man Lee Furlong, 23, were caught on CCTV on Thursday spray-painting a message on the wall of the 13th century Tha Pae Gate in Chiang Mai.
Mr Furlong had spray-painted the words “Scousse Lee,” a misspelt reference to his home town of Liverpool, England, while Schneider had spray-painted a “B.” The pair was arrested and taken before a judge who warned they faced the prospect of 10 years in jail and a fine of more than $43,000 for defacing the wall.

These two numbskulls obviously thought, if they are even capable of that activity, that it would be the typical slap on the wrist and kicked out of the country. I hate to break it to these two criminal masterminds, but the Asian nations generally aren’t to forgiving for things like this.
Schneider said she spent three nights in jail before being bailed out but was “terrified” as the pair waited to learn their fate.
“I’m terrified for my life. I’m so sorry for what I did, beyond sorry,” she told The Canadian Press. “I’m just so overwhelmed and just want to go home.”
Well, I don’t think that’s going to happen. In fact, I think you’re going to discover the joys of imprisonment in a country where they flat out don’t care about your rights after you’ve been convicted. (Not that they generally care that much prior to the conviction either)
The story describes what these two morons did, and how they went back to their hostel to sleep off the booze. The next morning, they had a few visitors from the local constabulary seeking to gain new insights in just how stupid some people can be.
The pair went back to their hostel and went to sleep, but the next morning, she said she remembered what she did and felt “so scared.” Then a hostel staff member found her and said there was an issue downstairs.
“My heart dropped. I knew,” Schneider said. “I walked downstairs, opened the door and there were like seven police officers standing there.
“They showed me a video and asked if it was me in the video spray-painting the wall. I said, ‘Yes, it was me’.”

The first thing any real criminal does is deny everything and then shut their pie hole. But these two really didn’t have any grounds to stand on, and they may have grown rather attached to their fingernails.
If found guilty, they face up to 10 years in jail and a fine of one million baht ($30,307).
Lieutenant Colonel Teerasak Sriprasert from Chiang Mai police told The Sun the pair was caught in CCTV footage.
“The graffiti says ‘Scousse Lee’. This means ‘Scouser Lee from Liverpool’. The girl is called Brittney and she wrote a letter ‘B’ on the wall,” he said.
“Officers investigated the vandalism after it was seen on CCTV cameras. The offenders were tracked to a guesthouse near the same road as the wall.
“The accused will be investigated and prosecuted according to the law.”

Of that I have no doubt. In fact, considering they are Westerners, (And disgraceful ones at that), I expect that every single “I” will be dotted and every single “T” will be crossed. Meanwhile, they aren’t going anywhere.
Furlong said his passport has been taken off him.
Of course they took it. They don’t want this knothead to try making a run for one of the border and getting into a country that might not send him back to stand trial. Now as to the 10 years these morons might get? Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time. I seriously doubt they are going to do very well in a Thai prison.

On the other hand, and understand that I know nothing about how the Thai legal system works, it might work for the Thai government to convict them, force them to repair the damage under close supervision, spend at least 1 year as guests of the Thai prison system and then release them with a fine of $1 million dollars each.
Or they can throw them into a nice dark hole and let them rot for a decade. Either one works for me.
