PETA offended at the name of a street, demands it be changed

Good day all. The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, (PETA), not to be confused with People Eating Tasty Animals, has a long long history of amazing idiocy, not to mention hypocrisy. They also have absolutely no sense of humor at all.

Recently, they discovered a road in a small town in Idaho with a name that they found utterly offensive and demanded that it be renamed. The name of this road? Why it’s Chicken Dinner Road! You can see how the perpetually offended were offended by this name. As soon as they found this road, they sent a letter to the mayor of Caldwell, Idaho demanding that it be changed. They mayor has replied to their demands, and has done so in a way to really torque off the perpetually offended. Here are the details from Fox News:

The mayor of a small Idaho town said there was “NO WAY, NO CHANCE” he would consider a request from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) to rename a street called Chicken Dinner Road to something more fowl-friendly.

PETA sent Caldwell Mayor Garret Nancolas a letter on July 3 asking him to change the name of the mostly deserted rural road. The animal-rights group said it opposes “speciesism” and asked the name be changed to just Chicken Road.

Just like dogs, cats, and human beings, chickens feel pain and fear and value their own lives,” said the letter from Tracy Reiman, PETA’s executive vice president. “PETA is asking Mayor Nancolas to change this road’s name to one that celebrates chickens as individuals, not as beings to kill, chop up, and label as ‘dinner.’”

Mayor Nancolas had some problems at first believing this was a real request.

When I first received the letter, I thought it was a joke,” he wrote. “I literally laughed! When I realized the letter was for real, it made me extremely irritated that they would waste our time with such a ridiculous request!”

Ahhh, but Mayor, the Progressive holier than Thou types live for making ridiculous requests and wasting people’s time. It makes them feel important. Of course, being the ever so wonderful and intellectual elite that they are, they didn’t actually bother to do their homework, or look at a map. The good mayor Nancolas was kind enough to inform them of their error.

The road in question is not even in Caldwell’s jurisdiction, the mayor said, adding that even it if was, there would be “NO WAY, NO CHANCE I would ever consider this truly unbelievable request!!”

In other words,

The road is the responsibility of Canyon County, the Idaho Statesman reported. Most locals agree the road was named after Laura Lamb, who lived along the road and was known in the 1930s for her fried chicken.

Oh the horror! They actually had the nerve to name a road in honor of a dirty human who…COOKED AND ATE our feathered friends! Why that is criminal! If this woman were alive today, PETA would demand that she be sent to the Hague to stand trial for Crimes against Poultry! Why we should send aid to those freedom fighters, the Poultry Liberation Organization! Granted, the last time they conducted a direct action attack was sometime in the early 1980’s when they sent the 1st Chicken Assault Battalion into a high school in the State of New Hampshire, but they are making a comeback!

An aside. There was an actual group of miscreants who, one late night, released a number of live chickens into local High School and then claimed credit as the Poultry Liberation Army. I deny having any knowledge of who these freedom fighters were. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

It’s nice to see a local official tell a nationally known pack of Progressive lunatics to go pound sand. It’s so rare these days. A tip of the hat to Mayor Nancolas!
