Today is the first full day of work of the 112th Congress. One of the first orders of business is reading the entire United States Constitution in it’s entirety, out loud.
Of course, the Democrats are up in arms over this “travesty” and tired to throw roadblocks in the way of the Reading. This, of course, comes as no surprise since the Progesterone Liberal Democrats hold this document and all it entails, in utter and complete contempt.
Why would they want to listen to people reading the Constitution? It’s just a bunch of writing, to hard to understand that doesn’t apply any longer. ((Ezra Klein: Constitution too hard to understand)) Only those evil conservative Republicans and that dangerous, racist group, the Tea Party, care what’s in it. No one else does, and frankly, as far as the Democrats are concerned, they aren’t going to pay any attention to it anyway. ((Now former Representative Phil Hare lets slip the truth))
Of course, the Progressive Liberal Democrats ran into a small problem. The voters. Funny thing, it seems that most people in this country do understand the Constitution and consider it to be binding on the Government as well as on the people. I gather the survivors of last November’s election still haven’t figured out that the voters are still rather annoyed with them. ((Annoyed in the sense that the U.S. was annoyed with Japan after Pearl Harbor))
Congressional historians say it’s the first time the nation’s governing document, which went into operation in 1789, was read in its entirety on the House floor. ((On Day 2, House Republicans read Constitution))
Personally, I find that both surprising and very sad. I, as I suspect others, thought that this wonderful document had been read aloud before. That this has never been done before leads me to believe that this is one of the reasons Congress and the US Government has strayed so far from the original meaning and intent. Perhaps this reading should be required at the start of EVERY session, both in the House of Representatives and the Senate.
Another plan that the new House is implementing, is to have every bill demonstrate where in the Constitution the proposed bill is allowed. ((New Rule to determine Bill’s Constitutional authority *pdf*))
It remains to be seen if these changes will work. Hopefully we aren’t so far gone as a nation, that the US Government will understand how far they have strayed and move back. Frankly, I’m not to hopeful. The Progressive Liberal Democrats have already shown they are a lost cause and only care about absolute power for themselves and the elites that think they should rule over America. Only time will tell.
