Some statistical weirdness with the Blog

Hello everyone and I hope you had a Merry Christmas. This is the Angry Systems Administrator coming to you live and in person from our deep underground bunker and datacenter. Yesterday I happened to log in to check things when I noticed the number of visitors on the site was far greater than we would have expected, it being Christmas and all.

The Musings of the Angry Webmaster is not what we would call a high traffic site. We average about 100 or so visits per day depending on how many posts that illiterate hillbilly wannabe, aka the Angry Webmaster, writes. When I logged in we had over 200 simultaneous visitors on the site, and looking at the logs for the previous 24 hours, we had over 2000 visits.

Needles to say I was a bit surprised. My first thought was some sort of DDOS attack, (Dedicated Denial of Service), however we weren’t being hammered. I then looked at what people were viewing and was surprised a second time. Almost all of the visits were to the post the Angry Webmaster put up on the 23rd titled Rural citizens to Gavin Newsom: Kiss my ass!

I contacted the meathead in charge, and once he sobered up, he took a look as well. There is nothing special about this post. It’s just another one of his typical run off at the mouth rants regarding the unconstitutional actions of many state governors. This wasn’t the only page of course, there were a number of people looking at the any Christmas rant the Webmaster puts up. (and as usual, he screwed up the styling)

Additionally, we had a number of people we’ve never seen before commenting on that post as well as others, including the one the Webmaster put up regarding Smith & Wesson suing New Jersey. I checked the stats again this morning and it looks like we had over 5000 visitors, almost all of them unique yesterday. All I can say to this is “Hi there! Nice of you to stop by!”

I also checked the referrers statistics, and to no one’s surprise, almost none came in from Google searches. Google pretty much killed us years ago, starting with ending our access to adsense. It seems that most of the hits came in directly or from searches on Duck Duck Go. In any case, since most people were reading the Webmaster’s remarks on Gavin Newsom, we’re guessing something got picked up from that or from one of the socialist media sites.

I have a feeling that people coming in to this site to read the Webmaster’s comments on Newsom doesn’t bode well for Gavin Newsom’s continued governorship. He is facing a recall and from what I gather, they are more then halfway to the number of signatures to trigger the recall election. Considering that no one at Anger Central has “A dog in that hunt,” since Anger Central is based 3000 miles away in the State of New Hampshire, I hope he has his next job lined up.

Thank you for your time.
