Unions demand shutdown of “Nonessential” non-union businesses

Good day all. Kalifornistan is leading the way when it comes to flat out tyranny and abuse of power, and the mayor of Los Angeles is in a photo finish with Gaven Newsom on who can do the most damage to civil rights. Now we have a new entrant, the Unions.

Mayor Eric Garcetti has announced that for all intents and purposes, the Constitution of the United States is revoked and the city is now under Martial Law. He is ordering businesses to close, (for all intents and purposes, permanently), and is deciding which businesses shall be deemed “Essential.”

Enter the Unions. They have decided that they will “Help” the Mayor to determine which businesses will be allowed to survive. Would you care to take a guess which businesses they are recommending be called essential? Here’s a hint. They like to hum the theme song “Look for the union label” Here are some of the details from Frontpage Mag:

The use and abuse of the “essential” category during the pandemic is an orgy of cynicism in which the media and Hollywood are labeled as essential, politically essential at least, while countless small businesses are labeled as non-essential because they don’t matter to the politicians.

Of course not. Small businesses, the “Mom and Pop” stores and restaurants can’t afford the bribes campaign contributions demanded requested by the ruling elites. Care to guess who can afford the payoffs? You have three guesses, but you’ll only need one.

Earlier this week, a consortium of powerful unions representing teachers (UTLA), nurses (California Nurses Association), healthcare (National Union of Healthcare Workers), grocery (UFCW 770) and hotel employees called for something similar. Specifically, the unions asked the L.A. County Board of Supervisors to “enact stay at home orders that are strict enough to truly suppress the virus by closing all non-essential businesses and activities in the County, for the first four weeks of January.

The unionized supermarkets would be able to stay open, while plenty of small businesses would be shut down. That would protect the big chains and the unions they’re in bed with, while conveniently wiping out non-unionized small businesses. And while lefties keep claiming that they’re fighting big business, as usual they’re actually crushing small business and building up the power of the mega-corps that they have leverage over.

And unions wonder why most people hate them. It’s the blatant corruption endemic to unions and the flat out threat to the average person’s livelihood, along with union dues going to things that the members do not support, such as Democrat politicians who do nothing but hurt them.

As it is, people have had it with these dictatorial policies over what amounts to a slightly harsher version of the Flue, and they have started ignoring the orders. Businesses around the country are reopening and telling their customers, and bureaucrats are coming in to order them shut down. To date, none of these petty tyrants have ended up decorating a lamp post, but the way things are going, it’s only a matter of time. The union’s cynical attempt to destroy nonunion businesses will probably backfire on them. There is a reason, when given the opportunity, workers are ditching unions these days. It’s because of stupid things like this.
