Good day all. I have been notified that Baen’s Bar is back online! I have successfully logged in with both the web interface and my preferred news reader using NNTP. The Cancel Culture has FAILED! FAILED! FAILED! To kill one of the better meeting places online.

As you will recall, a slimy little dirtbag by the name of Jason Sanford posted what amounted to a hit piece on twitter and elsewhere accusing the people who visit the Bar of everything from racism, and plotting to overthrow the government.

As a defensive measure, Toni Weisskopf and Baen Publishing were forced to take Baen’s Bar offline, which pissed off all the people you never want angry at you. Eventually Matthew Hopkins, The Witchfinder General took aim at Sandfart and started digging. What he found was that Sandfart was basically a failed writer who had a thing a towards children in his drivel that he called writing.

During the outage one of the “Old Hands” on The Bar tragically passed away.

Earlier this week I heard from the bubbly and effervescent, not to mention super highly intelligent publisher of Baen, Toni Weisskopf that the Bar was coming back soon. At approximately 5PM Eastern Daylight Savings Time, I was notified by one of the new moderators that the Bar was back online!

Being a bit Reaganesque in my thinking, I trusted the notice, but went in and verified it. I was able to log in both on the Web interface and via NNTP. (My preferred method) There are changes of course. First, The Bar has it’s own domain, Baensbar.net. Second, in order to set up an account, you will need to either purchase a Baen’d Book from their web site or drop a few dollars into the tip jar to help maintain the system. There is a reason for this.

The reason is scummy, dirty trolls, almost all of them scummy Progressive liberal scumbags who can’t stand anyone who doesn’t follow the Progressive Liberal Totalitarian line. That describes about 90% of the Denizens of the Bar, including a number of their authors. (Not all of course. I understand there are a couple of screaming commies that publish through Baen. This shows that Baen doesn’t play political favorites, they just rake in the bucks)

The issues that forced the, happily, temporary outage was due to several trolls, and Sandfart, who signed up for accounts and lurked around The Bar, looking for dirt. They took any number of posts completely out of context and used them to try and get Baen Publishing knocked off the Internet. As we now know, it backfired on them badly. Since new people will need to fork over a few ducets, and considering how loathe to spend their own money the Progressive Liberal types are, it’s an excellent way to help keep out the riffraff.

Let this be a lesson to all. You must fight back against the likes of Big Tech, Moonbats, Progressives and Liberals, (I seem to be repeating myself). They went after Gab first, then knocked Parler offline for almost 2 months. They fought back and are now bigger then ever. It is my hope that Baen too will become bigger then ever.
