North Face got woke and then Trolled

Good day all. North Face is a company that sells outdoor gear. They also will put company logos on their gear for business that ask them to, (And pay them of course). The one exception to this is the Oil and Gas industry. (Probably the gun and ammo industries too, but I haven’t heard)

North Face is all in favor of shutting down the industry and will not sell to oil companies. Now they have the right not to do business with these industries. However, one of these companies took exception to North Face’s proclamations and decided to show the apparel company that they are extensive users of the products that they insist not be drilled. Here are the details from Fox Business News:

The oil and gas industry launched a new ad campaign Thursday against North Face to shine a light on the outdoor apparel company‘scrazy hypocrisy.”

Chris Wright, the CEO of Denver-based Liberty Oilfield Services, is spearheading the campaign by putting up billboards around North Face’s Denver offices and launching a website and social media campaign, dubbed “Thank you, North Face.”

The idea for the campaign started after North Face denied an order of jackets to a Texas oil and gas company reportedly because the popular fleece maker did not want its outdoor brand affiliated with the fossil fuel business. Now Wright is trolling the company in Denver by calling out how many North Face jackets, backpacks and clothing products are made from oil and gas.

Oh this is going to be good. These days, almost everything is made out of synthetics, not natural materials. They tend to be lighter and still provide, in the case of jackets, the same or greater levels of protection that a much heavier coat made of natural materials would. They also tend to be less expensive to manufacture.

There’s “no chance that North Face could exist as a company or an organization without oil and gas,” Wright told Fox Business Thursday. 

Well, that’s the thing about virtue signaling. Facts, and reality don’t matter, only the Feelz matter. Mr. Wright then explains just how much of North Face’s product line actually uses the petrochemicals they claim they don’t want to have around. Here is the video put out by Mr. Wright both explaining this to North Face and thanking them for being such a great customer of the oil and gas industry.

The seven billboards are going up around the Denver offices of the VF Corporation, the North Face parent company. One billboard says: “That North Face puffer looks great on you. And it was made from fossil fuels.”

Now North Face is a subsidiary of VF Corporation. VF Corporation is a publicly traded corporation. I don’t know how the business is structured internally, and North Face might be independently managed, however, I can’t see the investors being very happy with one of their business units turning down a lucrative contract because it might hurt their Woke Feelz.

North Face did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the new ad campaign and why it didn’t make the jackets for Innovex.

Yeah, I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for that response. One thing about Woke Progressives, they hate having things they do to others, done to them.

Wright says he hopes the campaign will spark an honest conversation about the role fossil fuels play in the economy as well as climate change, which he says is real. And maybe driving by the billboards will give North Face employees a chance to reflect on how the oil and gas industry makes their lifestyle possible, from the jacket they wear to the kayak they took out last weekend. 

Sure, rub rub their progressive woke liberal faces in the fact that all their “Communing with nature” ideals use products made with petrochemicals. I’m sure that those Woke Progressives liberal Woke people will quickly move away from the evil kayaks made with oil and go back to the old natural way used for thousands of years.

First, gather driftwood to make the frame. Second, kill some baby seals, skin them and use their hides to make the hull of the boat.
