Hello everyone, this is the Angry Systems Administrator. I’ve been rather quiet of late, living in my hermetically sealed, sterilized environment to protect myself from the dreaded Faucivirus. This has given me some time to review our traffic.
We had a massive spike in December of 2020, thanks to a link on Instapundit by Sarah Hoyt. We received over 5000 new visits. Both the Webmaster and myself were shocked that she saw something that she felt should be passed along. (It seems she isn’t a fan of Governor Gavin Newsom) Not unexpectedly, traffic returned to what passes for normal, generally running about 100 visits a day.
About half of those visits are bots of one sort or another, and the rest are actual, live people. However, I’ve noticed a trend downwards, with some days showing nothing but bots in the logs. Then I noticed that no one seems to be looking at anything we post on Twitter. Curious about this, I asked to the Angry Webmaster to post a picture of the judges of the 9th Circus. Being an ass, he came up with this meme.
Normally, you would expect something like that to show up almost immediately, but when I logged into our backup account, the image wasn’t there. In fact, it took a good 24 hours for it to show up. Needless to say, this made me start thinking. Obviously, the Angry Loudmouth is not what one would call a Progressive. We also know that Big Tech is actively censoring any speech that they decide doesn’t toe the Progressive political line.
I am aware that a number of our long term followers have either left “Twitler” or have been booted off that platform as well as others. We like to use Pinterest as an image repository and link to the Blog from there. A few months ago, we received a notice that something had been removed because it didn’t meet their “Community Standards.” They didn’t bother to tell us what was removed and neither the Angry Webmaster or I were able to find anything that was missing.
Since we fully expect to be booted from places like Twitler, we’ve opened up accounts on Mewe, Parler and Gab. If you look at any post, you will see two lines of social media icons. The top line takes you directly to the profile the Angry Webmaster uses, which will show his posts. The second row is links to the various platforms. (Parler is having some stability issues since they were booted from Amazon Web Services. They’ve been basically rewriting their entire code base from the ground up)
If we have been shadow banned, it won’t be the first time. Almost 15 years ago, Goolag took exception to us and canceled our adsense account and confiscated the few dollars we had made.
We also rarely see any sales through our Amazon links and we see very few comments. I do know that we get the occasional troll posting garbage to the main site, the last one an attempt to masquerade as the Angry Webmaster. We knew it was a fraud instantly of course. The Webmaster is many things, but a functional illiterate isn’t one of them. We also don’t have the main site configured for automatic postings which helps keep out the spam.
