Texas Newspaper won’t describe murder suspect because, stereotypes

Good day all. If you need another reason to stop buying newspapers, then here’s one from the The Austin American-Statesman. They have refused to provide a description of a murder suspect because they’re worried about stereotypes.

Recently, some scumbag opened fire on a crowd of people in Austin Texas, then took off. Police don’t have much more then a basic description, but the newspaper refused to provide even that much. Would you care to guess why? Here are the details from the Daily Wire:

A newspaper in Texas said on Saturday that it is not publishing the description that local law enforcement gave of a man suspected of shooting 13 people on Friday night because it “could be harmful in perpetuating stereotypes.”

Someone opened fire in a popular entertainment district in downtown Austin early Saturday, wounding 13 people, including two critically, before getting away,” the AP reported. “Investigators were looking into what sparked the shooting but were not able to get a detailed description of the shooter, though they believe it was a man and were going through surveillance video and other evidence, interim Police Chief Joseph Chacon said at a 4 a.m. news conference.”

The good news is that the police caught one of the two shooters. (Since there were multiple bad guys involved, it’s doubtful this was a nutjob going off. The police will sort out the motives eventually) The bad news is the other suspect was able to get away. This is where the Austin American-Statesman decided it was a great time to “Get Woke.”

At the bottom of the Austin American-Statesman’s report, the newspaper explained that it was not going to give the description that law enforcement provided of one of the suspects:

Editor’s note: Police have only released a vague description of the suspected shooter as of Saturday morning. The Austin American-Statesman is not including the description as it is too vague at this time to be useful in identifying the shooter and such publication could be harmful in perpetuating stereotypes. If more detailed information is released, we will update our reporting.

Meanwhile, the police did release a description of the suspect they were looking for. Once you read it, you’ll understand why the American-Statesman chose to not do so.

In a statement, the Austin Police Department described the suspect as “a black male, with dread locks, wearing a black shirt and a skinny build.”

The Austin police issued a lengthy statement on the crime, the appearance of the suspect and the process of the investigation. One of the things they’re doing is checking any and all surveillance videos and any footage that people might have shot with their smartphones. That will allow them to narrow the suspect pool. I doubt that the police will bother looking at large black men with close cropped hair.

The Austin American-Statesman only saw the word “Black” and decided to go all woke and actively obstruct the investigation. They are ignoring the witness statements, because, in their progressive mush for brains, one criminal who happens to be black makes all people with dark skin look guilty. (Somehow, that way of thinking seems rather racist to me) Frankly, I doubt there are all that many people who fit the general description, and the investigators will be able to clear the few who do match the general description fairly quickly. They will catch this scumbag. As for the American-Statesman? My recommendation is that advertisers drop them like a hot potato. They have shown they will put identity politics ahead of public safety, and can no longer be trusted.

***Update***

No thanks to the Austin American-Stateman, the Austin police have a suspect and are now actively looking for him. According to Fox News:

Police have now identified De’ondre “Dre” White, 19, as the suspect responsible for gunfire on Sixth Street in the city’s nightlife district that left one person dead and 13 others wounded, FOX 7 of Austin reported. The suspect is said to have cut and dyed his hair after the shooting and was believed to have gone to Killeen, Texas, about 68 miles north of Austin, according to FOX 7.
