Is it time to leave Afghanistan?

Greetings. As you may or may not remember, I like to follow a web forum called Baen’s Bar. The Bar is it is called is hosted by Baen Publishing and is a place where Baen Authors and their readers can get together and talk about most anything.

In one of these forums, a question has come up. Should we pull out of Afghanistan?

Now this forum is followed by a number of former and present military people as well as those who didn’t serve but are what might be called Conservative in their political outlook. If you follow the Huffington post or the Daily Kos, they phrase they would use is “Dangerous right wing fanatical neo-nazi wingnuts!”

Of course, your your average Huffer or krazy kos kid is generally to the left of Karl Marx, but that’s another story for another day. In any case, people on The Bar are patriotic and totally supportive of the troops, so it is a bit surprising that they are saying that “Yes, it is time to go.”

However, what is really pushing the discussion is how we go. None want a repeat of the helicopter flying off the embassy roof again. ((Last Huey out of Saigon)) No, the discussion is how much damage we should do on the way out.

It goes from the Roman “Make a desert and call it peace” ala Carthage ((Carthage: Third Punic War)) to taking off and nuking the place from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure. ((Ellen Ripley: Nuke the site from orbit))

Now you may think they’re just talking, and they will say yes, it is just talk….for now. A lot of these people have been in that area and know what a complete waste it is. Destroying every city, town, village and mud hut, killing all the livestock, burning the crops and poisoning the wells is exactly what they have in mind.

They’re fed up with how the morons in Washington have tied their hands with ridiculous ROE’s and how we let these scum get away with murder. Every one of them believes that if they had been allowed to do a proper job, we would have been home years ago and not having any problems in that part of the world. They understand that all these camel humping goat fornicators understand is force, violence and terror.

I’m with them. However I’m in the “Nuke them from orbit” camp. I think it would be cheaper then a dedicated Dresden or Tokyo style bombing campaign.

Is this radical?

Oh HELL YES it’s radical. Will we have the stones to do this?

Nope.

The elitist slime running things are to cowardly and frightened of how people will think of them to actually do something that would put the fear of God, (Or Allah), into these…people.
