673 University Professors oppose the Constitution

A few weeks ago, I posted an entry on a bill moving through the North Carolina legislature that would mandate the teaching of the United States Constitution. As far as I know, it hasn’t become law as yet, however a large number of Communist Fascist Nazi Totalitarian University professors are opposed to the mandate.

Schools in the United States, and this includes law schools apparently, haven’t been teaching the Constitution for decades. Few students have ever read through it and fewer still have ever heard of the Federalist Papers or Thomas Paine’s Common Sense. Most people today really don’t understand the Constitution and what it’s meant to do. This is why the North Carolina Legislature is working on the bill to mandate teaching it and several other important documents, such as Martin Luther King’s Letter from Birmingham Jail. Now all the university professors are up in arms about this. Here are the details from Fox News:

Hundreds of professors at the University of North Carolina signed a public letter Tuesday opposing legislation that would require university students to take courses on America’s government and founding documents.

The 673 UNC Chapel Hill professors revealed the public letter Tuesday, arguing the new courses and another bill in the North Carolina House of Representatives would constitute an infringement on the university’s “academic freedom.”

I would like to know just what these useless mouths actually teach. I have a suspension there are a lot of classes ending in the word “Studies.” I also suspect that most, if not all of these Ivory Tower elitists have ever worked a day in the “Dreaded Private Sector,” and probably aren’t qualified for much above “Would you like fries with your order?”

The first piece of legislation, House Bill 96, would require students to take a 3 credit-hour course covering America’s founding and history. Required reading for the course would include the U.S. Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the Emancipation Proclamation, at least five essays from the Federalist Papers, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Letter from Birmingham Jail and the Gettysburg Address.

So, all of these progressive professors don’t think it’s a good idea to teach about the Civil Rights movement and just how instrumental Dr. King was? Oh wait, I forgot. These pinheads are all about Critical Race Theory and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Basically, they’re all liberal racists who hate the United States. (But won’t go to a country more in tune with their beliefs)

The professors argue the legislation “violates core principles of academic freedom” and “substitutes ideological force-feeding for the intellectual expertise of faculty.”

Intellectual expertise? Oh that is a laugh-riot! I doubt any of these moonbats tolerate any dissenting opinions in their classrooms. I wouldn’t be surprised that any student who challenged them and brought facts to the table would find themselves kicked out and banned.

The second bill, H.B. 715, would eliminate tenure at UNC and its affiliated campuses, establish minimum class sizes and require colleges to report “all non-instructional research performed by higher education personnel at the institution.”

Now that is one that’s going to hurt. Tenure was meant to reward really good professors and instructors, but over the last 30+ years, has been used to put people into place who, frankly, would probably end up stood against a wall in many of the countries they think are better then the United States. Tenure has been badly abused and should be abolished.

The other part, reporting on non-instructional research would probably show that most, if not all of the tenured instructors almost never actually teach classes. They just research topics for books that no one will ever read. If these pass, I wouldn’t be surprised if 50 percent or more of these “Intellectual worthies” are found to be “Surplus to needs” and shown the door.

The 673 professors decry both bills as an attack on “expertise,” arguing the American government courses constitute little more than indoctrination.

Oh I like that! Most colleges and universities are nothing more than very expensive Socialist indoctrination centers that will not tolerate any dissenting opinions.

“Our leaders continue to disregard campus autonomy, attack the expertise and independence of world-class faculty, and seek to force students’ educations into pre-approved ideological containers,” the letter reads. “We must protect the principles of academic freedom and shared governance which have long made UNC a leader in public education.”

Academic freedom? What a crock. There hasn’t been any academic freedom on campuses for the last 20+ years.

“If enacted, we believe that these measures will further damage the reputation of UNC and the state of North Carolina and will likely bring critical scrutiny from accrediting agencies that know undue interference in university affairs when they see it,” the letter continues.

The “Reputation” of UNC is already scraping the bottom, as is pretty much all of “Academia.” About those accreditation agencies. I think they’re going to be the next group that starts getting a nice anal probe. As for these professors, I have very little doubt that most, if not all of these “Intellectuals” are tenured. Even if the state ends tenure, I’m not sure that means it’s ended for those currently in tenured positions.

Not being a lawyer, especially one schooled in labor law, I suspect this may be akin to a contract. Still, it does mean no more of these worthless losers will be basically given lifetime jobs on the taxpayer and student’s dimes. The new hires don’t do the job, they will be shown the door.

H.B. 96 passed through the North Carolina House of Representatives in March and is now making its way through the state Senate.

The North Carolina House has a Republican super majority and a Majority in the Senate. The governor is a Democrat and the Lt. Governor is a Republican. From what I’ve been seeing, the bills do seem to be popular among the voters, and definitely unpopular among the “Educational Elite.” It will be interesting to see if the governor veto’s the bills or signs them. It will also be interesting to see which Democrats are not in the pocket of the Teachers unions.
