Good day all. The final Indiana Jones movie, The Dial of Destiny, was released last week, (June 29th), and it has failed miserably. I’ve been following the back story of Disney’s malpractice of this and other films for a few weeks now. Things are not looking to good.

I happened to log into YouTube to see if anything interesting had been uploaded. I don’t subscribe to the movie review channels, and saw a bunch of things in the “You might be interested in this!” window. One of these was a video called the Pro Show. In it they said they had heard from sources that all the Lucasfilm people along with others were ordered to go to the Burbank offices and be there Monday Morning.
I’m not tuned into all this stuff. I’m just a guy who likes good movies, and the Dial of Destiny has been roundly and soundly panned by pretty much everyone as gawd awful. The reports I’ve been hearing is that Disney is looking at a $1 BILLION+ dollar loss on their films this year. I, personally, haven’t been to a movie in a theater at all this year. The reason for this is simple.
I haven’t seen anything yet, (Other than John Wick or Guardians of the Galaxy), that was worth the $10-$15 dollars to go see. For the due diligence, I haven’t seen Wick or Guardians yet either and will probably wait for them to come to streaming video.
Now Disney is getting ready to collect some heads for their latest debacle. The question of who is going to be fired probably won’t be known until Tuesday, but one rumor is Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy may finally be shown the door. According to the movie people on YouTube, she is the one responsible for utterly destroying the Star Wars franchise and wrecking the latest round of Marvel movies.
According to the sources in the vlog above, people were given 48 hours to get back no matter where they are in the world. Apparently, no one was expected to be in the offices for 2 weeks. It would be interesting to be a fly on the wall at the meeting Monday, and see record levels of ass covering and buck passing.
One person who is responsible is Bob Iger, and he is also in jeopardy of being shown the door after the next corporate earnings report. Disney is running out of cash on hand and has laid off 7000 people and may be laying off thousands more. They also have to buy out Comcast’s share of Hulu and that will cost Disney at least $9 billion dollars they flat out do not have. Iger was the one in charge when all of these deals and projects were started, so he’s the one responsible.
I can’t say that Disney might go bankrupt, but it is a possibility. All of this can be laid at the feet of “Going Woke” and catering to less than 1% of the population and really angering the other 99%. Add to that all the costs on going to the parks, or seeing the movies and people are saying “Enough!” The next 6 months are going to be very interesting. Stay tuned!
