Good day all. Recently the new head of the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division, Harmeet Dhillon, began to overhaul how things are done. This has set off the usual suspects on the Left who are screaming that American’s Civil Rights are at risk.
What is actually happening is the Civil Rights Division is going back to doing what it was set up to do decades ago. Protecting the civil rights of all Americans, not just those that the Progressive Liberals in the division think are worthy. Here are some of the details from NBC News:
The Trump administration has quietly transformed the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, forcing out a majority of career managers and implementing new priorities that current and former officials say abandon a decades long mission of enforcing laws that prohibit discrimination in hiring, housing and voting rights.
Considering how the CRD has been abusing it’s authority for quite a while, all I can say is, It’s about damn time.
More than a dozen senior lawyers — many with decades of experience working under presidents of both parties — have been reassigned, the current and former officials say. Some have resigned in frustration after they were moved to less desirable roles unrelated to their expertise, according to the sources.
“It’s been a complete bloodbath,” said a senior Justice Department lawyer in the division who is not authorized to speak publicly.
Last week, President Donald Trump’s hand-picked head of the division issued a series of memos outlining priorities that are dramatically at odds with the way both Republican and Democratic administrations have enforced civil rights law — including the first Trump administration.
Rather than focusing on enforcing federal laws against discrimination, the division is now charged with pursuing priorities laid out in a series of Trump’s executive orders, including “Keeping Men out of Women’s Sports” and “Ending Radical Indoctrination in K-12 Schooling,” according to the memos, which were issued by division head Harmeet Dhillon and obtained by NBC News.
And the problem with this is what again? During President Trump’s first administration, he truly didn’t understand just how bad things were at the DoJ and the various divisions inside it. He knew there were some problems, and he was advised to put Jeff, “Sleepy” Sessions into place. Sessions was also supposed to find out what was going on with the fake Russia file. Instead, that useless RINO decided to take a nap for two years.
When President Trump fired Sessions, he was recommended to appoint Bill Barr. Barr proved to be almost as useless as Sessions. In the mean time, the Civil Rights Division was going after anyone who wasn’t towing the progressive line on hiring and other things. When Biden was installed into office, Merrick Garland was appointed and he completely weaponized the DoJ and the Civil Rights Division.
They went after anyone who complained about Transgenders, pedophiles and the absolute garbage that children were being exposed to without their parents knowledge. It was all this that gave President Trump reason to find the right person to clean house in the Civil Rights Division and Harmeet Dhillon is doing just that.
The NBC article goes on to detail all the whining and complaining from the usual suspects. The problem for them is that no one is listening to the useless bureaucrats are to NBC news. In fact, most people, once they learn what is actually happening, are fully on board. Here are a few details from a column in RedState by Joe Cunningham:

NBC News and other outlets are breathlessly reporting that Trump’s team, led by Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, has reoriented the Civil Rights Division to focus on issues like keeping men out of women’s sports, ending radical indoctrination in K-12 education, and defending Americans, including Christians, against discrimination.
The professional left is calling it a “bloodbath.” Former bureaucrats are lamenting that the division has been “completely refocused.” Good. That’s the point.
Under the Biden administration, the Civil Rights Division became an engine for the far left’s social agenda, aggressively targeting police departments, promoting gender ideology, and even weaponizing the law against Christian Americans. What Dhillon and the Trump administration are doing isn’t an abandonment of civil rights — it’s a return to what civil rights are actually supposed to mean: protecting the constitutional rights of all Americans, not just the favored groups of the day.
And that is something that the Democrats, Progressives, Liberals and other assorted Leftards are utterly opposed to. It was getting so bad that I doubt that we could have survived another four years without a very violent reaction. Fortunately for America, President Trump cleaned Kamala Harris’s clock and one in a landslide.
Another theme running through the establishment media’s reporting is that career government lawyers are upset that their priorities have changed. To which I say: welcome to democracy. Bureaucrats (yes, even government lawyers) work at the pleasure of the President. They don’t get to set national policy. The President does. That’s how our system works.
That’s part of the problem. For your average bureaucrat, telling them that the President of the United States is the one who sets policy generally gets the following response: “Since when?”
President Trump was elected — and re-elected — with a mandate to tackle this exact problem: an unelected, unaccountable administrative state that believes it knows better than the American people. Reclaiming the Civil Rights Division from far-left activists is part of fulfilling that mandate.
Once upon a time, the Civil Rights Division would make sure that people could vote, and that people weren’t being discriminated due to their skin color or eye shape. Those days are long gone and people have had it. Up until now, the Civil Rights Division has been protecting those who prey on children, protecting people from criminals and generally doing everything they could to destroy everything this country stands for.
At the heart of these reforms is something basic: Americans are sick of being told that defending biological women’s sports is bigotry. They’re tired of Christians being targeted by the same people who claim to champion “rights.” They’re exhausted by bureaucrats using federal law as a bludgeon to reshape American culture in ways no legislature ever voted for.
Recently, the Civil Rights Division was going after Catholic organizations such as hospitals because they wouldn’t perform abortions. They would also go after anyone who dared consider throwing some dude out of the girls locker room. They were threatening parents. Yes, people weren’t just exhausted, they were also mad as hell and they weren’t going to take it any longer.
It’s long past time we had a Civil Rights Division that protects all Americans, not just the politically connected ones. The Trump administration deserves credit for standing up to the bureaucratic swamp and fighting for the voters who put them there.
One of the problems we’ve had in the past were “Republicans” who were either to cowardly to stand up to the bureaucrats or had no real problem with them since. We have had Presidents who should have dealt with this problem, but either couldn’t be bothered, (Bush the Younger), or were actively pushing things along. (Obama and Biden) Now we have a president who knows where the problems are, Found the right people to deal with them and just doesn’t care what the Progressive Liberal Elite thinks.
