Good day all. I’m engaging in my personal full on rant mode. As you may know, the Anger Central offices are in New Hampshire. I avoid going into Massachusetts if at all possible. However, today I was forced to drive down to Logan Airport to drop of SWMBO. (She Who Must Be Obeyed)
SWMBO is flying back to China for a couple of months to take care of a few things, one of which is selling the apartment she inherited from her late mother. She had wanted to go back in 2020, but we had the Great Panicdemic of 2020 and put the kibosh on travel for the most part.

A couple of months ago, she started talking about traveling back to sell the apartment. (Sadly, the market sucks in China for reasons) I suggested that she fly out of Manchester Airport for a number of reasons, one of which is that it’s only about 20 minutes away. No, she said, to expensive. Boston cheaper. (SWMBO throws pennies around like their manhole covers)
So today, (Sunday June 6th), we drove down to Logan’s Terminal E, which is the international flight terminal. Her plan was “This is Sunday. There won’t be any traffic.” Well, that plan fell apart thanks to the end of the 4th of July weekend and all the Massholes flooding back into Massachusetts. Still, we made good time, right up until we hit that maze laughingly referred to as the Logan Airport access roads.
Even though I was using Waze, it wasn’t able to keep up with all the twists and turns and I ended up making at least one wrong turn. Next was where I could drop off SWMBO and her three bags. (One small carry on and to 45 pound back to the rafters suitcases she is checking) I really wanted to go into the terminal and at least get her to the gate, but that wasn’t an option. In fact, it appears that parking isn’t an option at Terminal E.
I helped her get her bags out of the Mighty Bronco, gave her a hug and a kiss goodbye and got back in and started driving off. My attempts to reset Waze to get me the hell out of Logan failed and I had to switch over to Google Maps. I finally got it to plot a route back to the Anger Central Primary Dwelling, and it was nice enough to steer me in the wrong direction.
What should have been a straight shot out of Logan, (Yeah right), ended up with me starting into Boston proper. Google Maps corrected the route and still sent me to the wrong street. I ended up circling around a block twice before the damn thing finally gave me the correct route and I found the right street. I finally made it home after about an hour.
I really hate Logan. The last time I flew out of Logan was over 20 years ago to bring SWMBO to the United States after her visas were approved. Yes, she came her legally as all good immigrants should. Since I was going to be in China for a couple of weeks, I took one of the limos, (Actually a van), down and left the driving to them. (A 17 hour flight really takes a lot out of you)
After that, the few times SWMBO went to China she flew out of Manchester Airport. The differences between the two airports is like night and day. Actually, the night part, being Logan, would be moonless, heavy overcast, pitch black in a deep mineshaft. Manchester is how an airport should be set up. There is no problem driving in to the terminals. There’s plenty of parking, and it’s right off the main highway.
I’m not the only one to notice this. For decades, Manchester was just a regional airport. Then, there was a massive snowstorm and Logan was forced to close. Manchester was able to handle all the flights coming in with no real issue. The Mass Transit Authority (MTA at the time), system sent up a bunch of busses to bring the passengers back down to Logan and this is where people got angry.
You had all these people who were now forced to ride a bus for several hours due to the bad weather and Massachusetts notoriously bad snow clearing, back down to Logan. As they were heading down, they looked and noticed that they were going right past their homes. Obviously, the buses weren’t going to stop, but people started saying, “What the Hell am I flying out of that mess of an airport when I can fly out of Manchester, which is right up the street from me?”

With that, Manchester Airport began a years long construction project, including a new exit right off the highway and straight to the terminal. Now for anyone in New Hampshire and Northern Massachusetts, the “Manchvegas” airport is their first choice. Granted, you are looking a slightly higher cost for tickets and you will probably have to change planes when going international, but the level of convenience compared to going to Logan outweighs the added costs as far as I’m concerned.
I have a couple of months to prepare for SWMBO’s return from China. This will include getting a parking reservation at Logan’s Central Parking lot. I’ll probably make that in late August. I am not looking forward to the extortionist parking fee levels Logan charges, but I don’t have a choice. SWMBO’s current flight, which should be leaving now, has been delayed for an hour. (As I post this, she is currently flying over Romania)
As you might have guessed, I don’t like Logan. Actually, once SWMBO has has left the airspace, someone needs to take off, rendezvous with the ship, and nuke the site from orbit. It’s the only way we can be sure.

It does come with a built in Nav system, but it’s a subscription model and while I do have a subscription, I don’t use it that much.
LOL As long as everyone is home safe and sound, that’s all that matters.
And that big-azz Bronco doesn’t come with a navigation app. – I would be lost! I don’t drive a Bronco but I do have sweet Ford Ranger XLT Sport with Sirius radio – perfect for cruzing.
