Good day all. Almost from the first day after Hamas attacked Israel, we have seen Jewish students verbally and in some cases physically attacked in colleges and universities. Massachusetts schools were arguably where some of the worst incidents happened. Instead of dealing with the rioters and attackers, the school administrations along with far to many teachers, went all in on the antisemitic attacks.
Since President Trump returned to office, we have seen a sea change in how the Federal Government has been responding to these incidents. However, there is only so much the administration can do. Now one Jewish organization has decided to do something about these antisemitic actions themselves. Here are the details from Newsmax:
The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) filed a lawsuit against the largest teachers union in Massachusetts, alleging it has violated the civil rights of Jewish members by creating and fostering a “hostile and discriminatory” antisemitic environment.
Now I will state that until I saw this story, I had never heard of this organization. So, I did what anyone with a brain, internet access and curiosity does. I looked them up. According to that wealth of pure and unbiased information, Wikipedia, The ZOA is a 501(c)(3) organization that was founded over 120 years ago. So they’ve been around for quite a while.
I’ve also visited their web site and encourage you to do the same. The organization, of course, supports Israel. Looking at some of their Op-Eds, I see names of people that I recognize. I think it’s safe to say, these people have just about had enough of the garbage we’ve been seeing and are going to legally take these idiots to the proverbial cleaners.
The 26-page complaint, filed with Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell on Aug. 13, accuses the 117,000-member Massachusetts Teachers Association (MTA) of violating Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and state law.
“Since the Hamas massacre on October 7, 2023, the MTA has strayed from its mission by engaging in and fueling antisemitism,” ZOA national president Morton A. Klein said in a statement. “Instead of dedicating itself to improving educators’ workplace conditions and quality of life, the union has been so fixated on attacking Israel and denying the Jewish people’s connection to their ancestral homeland that many of its Jewish dues-paying members feel unwelcome and even unsafe in the union.”
We have seen this across the country and with the two national Teachers Unions, The American Federation of Teachers and the National Education Association. They have come down for square in favor of supporting Hamas and destroying Israel. About the only thing they haven’t done is start a full on purge of Jewish members.
Klein added some Jewish teachers have left the union over the hatred being fueled by MTA.
“It was shocking to us to see this incessant focus by the MTA on attacking and demonizing Israel and even Jews after the Hamas massacre,” Susan Tuchman, director of the ZOA’s Center for Law and Justice, told JNS.
The sad thing here is that most of these Jewish teachers are probably liberals and voted Democrat. Up until the MTA started their full on “Destroy Israel!” campaign, those teachers were probably on board for most of what the MTA stands for. Then reality walked up and kicked them right in the family jewels.
ZOA urged Campbell to investigate the MTA for antisemitic and anti-Israel conduct.
Yeah, right. That won’t happen. Campbell, like all of the Democrats, are wholly owned by the Teachers unions, not just in Massachusetts, bu all around the country.
In its complaint, ZOA documented some of the discriminatory conduct, including:
“Passing multiple resolutions that demonize Israel with falsehoods, while failing to condemn or even acknowledge Hamas’ terror attack, its victims, or the hostages still held by Hamas nearly two years later.”
Sadly, no surprise there. Nazis gotta Nazi after all, and with the October 7th attack, along with the election of President Trump, all the blinds have been removed and we’re now seeing what these Progressive groups really stand for. They love to accuse Israel of genocide in Gaza, (Which is garbage. The IDF has gone out of their way to avoid civilian casualties where Hamas works to maximize them), and don’t see the issue when they call for the destruction of Israel and what will happen to all the Israeli people.
“Sponsoring speakers and programs that question Jewish ties to Israel and misrepresent and vilify Zionism, including speakers who express support for extremist antisemitic organizations.”
I can think of one person the MTA would invite to speak if her were still alive. He would fit right in with their beliefs.
“Discriminating against observant Jewish members by holding important union meetings on the Jewish Sabbath and major Jewish holidays and failing to reasonably accommodate Jewish members’ religious observance, thus effectively excluding observant Jews from key deliberations and votes and undermining their ability to participate equally in union affairs.”
Now I’m not up on Jewish holidays or their Sabbath. I know about Hanukkah of course. I just looked up their Sabbath and it starts just before sunset on Friday’s and goes until sunset on Saturdays. The only possible accommodation that may be required is letting them leave work on Friday afternoons so they can get home before sundown.
In the summer, that’s probably no issue. In the winter with the shorter days? They would need to leave earlier of course. Saturday is the weekend for most people so again no issue. Now if I’m making a mistake, please let me know in the comments. In any case, I personally don’t see an issue with any of this since it can be planned for long in advance.
“The union is holding meetings and events, including important ones where votes are taken and decisions are being made, on Shabbat and Jewish religious holidays,” Tuchman told JNS, “which means that for Jewish members who are observant, they can’t participate or express their views.”
I would like to know if this started before the Oct. 7th attack or after. If after, then there is definite grounds there. It also seems to me that accommodations could very easily made, either by changing the date or time of these meetings and extending the voting periods.
Now how this will all play out? I have absolutely no idea at all. Personally, I hope they beat the MTA like a drum in court and take them to the proverbial cleaners. While they have reached out to the Masshole AG’s office, I also think they might want to talk to the United States Attorney for Massachusetts. This might be the perfect opportunity for a full court press by a private organization and the Federal Government to crush one of these Leftard groups. Basically do unto them what they’ve been doing unto everyone else, good aand hard.
