Good day all. This story has been going on for a few years now with extensive coverage from Powerline Blog. Basically there has been an ongoing investigation into a massive organized fraud by the Somali Immigrant community. To date, some 80 people have been convicted, are on trial or are under indictment.
At the moment, the estimate of the amount of taxpayer money that has been stolen is about $1 billion dollars. Most of the work in the investigation has been handled by the U.S. Attorney’s office in Minnesota. The estimates of the amount of money that has been stolen is up in the 8 billion dollar range. Additionally, a lot of these funds have been funneled to terrorist groups.
There is a lot to unwind and I will be bouncing around a bit. Here is an overview from Fox News:
A series of sprawling fraud schemes involving hundreds of millions of dollars stolen from Minnesota taxpayers — from COVID-relief programs to housing and autism services — have placed the state’s Somali community under a renewed, intense spotlight, raising uncomfortable questions about whether some who found refuge here are robbing their new neighbors blind.
These swirling fraud cases — and claims that some ill-gotten gains were diverted to the Somali terrorist organization Al-Shabaab — have now prompted a House investigation, a Treasury Department probe and mounting political pressure on state leaders, including Democrat Gov. Tim Walz, over why Minnesota failed to safeguard taxpayer money.
I recently wrote a post regarding the Minnesota Department of Human Services flat out accusing Govno Tim Walz of not only ignoring the fraud, but actively blocking any investigations into it. The criminal enterprise has been going on since at least 2021 when the Biden Maladministration flooded the country with government money with little to no oversight.
The fraud revelations, combined with a string of violent crimes and revived terror concerns involving Somali-linked defendants, have shaken public confidence and raised urgent questions about why Minnesota failed to stop the schemes sooner. The developments have also deepened public unease and revived long-standing questions about assimilation, oversight and public safety in Minnesota.
There are a number of reasons why the State did nothing. A major one is virtue signaling. The state is basically ruled by the Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party. It was in their interests to allow the Somali crime syndicates to steal with abandon since those that had become citizens were both voting for the DFL and providing kickbacks from the funds they were stealing. This has led the House Oversight and Accountability Committee to decide it was time to bring in Tim Walz and put him under the lights. Here are those details from Just The News:
House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., says he is willing to subpoena Tim Walz, the Minnesota governor and failed vice-presidential candidate, over a fraud scheme in his state that reportedly saw hundreds of millions of dollars routed through nonprofits to Somali immigrants and others.
“If anyone that has received correspondence from us thus far requesting information, if they don’t turn over that information, then they will get a subpoena. And we’re serious about this. We’re not going to back down,” Comer warned in an interview with Just the News.
Honestly, I think it’s moved beyond Congressional oversight, although that should be done, but has moved into a criminal investigation of the political infrastructure of Minnesota.
Comer noted to Just The News that Walz and other Minnesota officials, like Attorney General Keith Ellison, have “hid” as the investigation proceeds.
“You know, Walz gets due process, but the way he’s handling this, and the way Ellison, the attorney general, has kind of hid right now, makes me pretty confident that there’s a massive amount of waste, fraud and abuse that’s about to be detected here, and I’m going to predict that Walz’s political career is closer to an end than somewhere in the middle.”
I don’t think it will be just Walz. I think Ellison is probably going to be challenged along with a number of other politicians at the state level. If it is shown that these people not only knew about the fraud, but actively hid the activities, then it’s time for the FBI to start looking into things.
Adding to the nightmare for the Minnesota political class is a report from a former TSA official on how they kept finding Somali’s with suitcases of cash heading to the homeland. Here are those details from Lifezette:
A former TSA agent at Minneapolis–St. Paul International Airport detailed repeated encounters with Somali men carrying suitcases packed with cash and, in one case, a bag filled with new passports.
In an interview, Liz Jaksa told journalist Liz Collin that she witnessed these incidents regularly during her five years at the airport.
“Well, I’ve actually seen a lot of things, but the most shocking is exactly that I saw suitcases filled with millions of dollars of cash, and the couriers were always small. He meant traveling in pairs, and they got through the checkpoint. I And it just, it just really, absolutely blew my mind. The first time you open a suitcase and you see millions of dollars of cash,” she said.
I was under the impression that if cash like this wasn’t properly documented, the Feds would confiscate it. As for the passports? That should have resulted in the person with them cuffed and hauled off the jail. Instead, that person was passed through by the LEO.
“And typically, what would happen is a Leo or a law enforcement officer would come check their credentials. I don’t know what kind of questions they asked them, but, but their IDs were always documented, and probably their plane tickets as well. So so there is a trail of that out there, and I would believe, with all the cameras at the airport, that if they started there, they could probably find each and every individual that brought money through the checkpoint,” she said.
Were these local police or Federal officers? I have a suspicion that they were local. If local, were these LEO’s Somali born, (There have been a few recruited to local police departments, and there have been issues), or native born Americans? If the former, I think I know why the Somali’s were passed through. Now if you think this was just happening in Minnesota, we have another report that there is an issue in Maine. Here are those details from Newsnation:
Taxpayers in Maine have been bilked out of millions of dollars from the state’s Medicaid program, according to a whistleblower who in an interview with NewsNation likened the case to a burgeoning scandal in Minnesota, where people in the Somali community are accused of defrauding taxpayers of $1 billion meant for social services.
Christopher Bernardini, a whistleblower who worked at a health services contractor called Gateway Community Services from May 2018 to April 2025, told NewsNation about the alleged fraudulent billing practices he discovered during his time at the organization.
The whistleblower, Christopher Bernardini, describes himself as a former “billing guru” of Gateway Community Services — a health services contractor that he says defrauded Maine’s Medicaid program.?Bernardini worked for Gateway from May 2018 until April 2025 as a program coordinator.
Ok, we have the bona fides of the whistleblower. That he isn’t one of the many “Anonymous Sources” cited by the Mostly Stupid Media is a point in the favor of his credibility.
Bernardini alleges that Gateway oversaw a system in which false records were filed about client visits. He alleges an electronic monitoring system designed to track movements was manipulated to make it seem like field staff were visiting low income and disabled clients, when in reality they did not come within miles of the clients’ homes. They then charged taxpayers for providing services that were never performed, according to Bernardini.
Apparently, Mr. Bernardini made a lot of noise, and the Republicans in the state legislature are calling for an investigation. Since the GOP is a minority party in Maine, I think it’s safe to assume where that request is going to end up.
He criticized Democratic Gov. Janet Mills’ administration over the issue.
“The Mills Administration has neglected obvious and credible reports of Somali-linked systemic fraud in the MaineCare system,” Harrington said. “This is an outrageous betrayal of Maine taxpayers.”
The story goes into greater detail of course, but if this is accurate, what it’s showing is that we have a continuing criminal enterprise that is robbing the taxpayers blind and the Democrat Party is, in my opinion, actively aiding and abetting it.
These are the stories I’m aware of and I have little doubt there are others around the country. President Trump has taken notices about what is happening in Minnesota and I hope the administration is seeing what’s happening in Maine. I don’t know if formal criminal investigations from the DoJ are underway, but they damn well should be.
As to the Somali’s and others admitted into the United States? Without question there are those who have assimilated, obey the laws and these people need to be welcomed. The rest have made little to no attempt to assimilate and have pretty much imported the failed state of Somalia to the United States.
I know that the immigration and in some cases naturalization status of a large number of Somali immigrants is now being reviewed. I think we may need to start with a certain member of Congress. There have been rumors and reports that she committed immigration fraud. To my knowledge, this has not been investigated, either to clear her or to confirm the allegations. Perhaps this should be done. If it’s found she came to the United States fraudulently, then her citizenship can be stripped and she can be deported.
The Main Stream Media has, finally, discovered all the criminal activities and some are actually starting to investigate and report on it. However, it’s been local news and small internet news sites that have done most of the work. I recommend that you start your own research into all this. I have a suspicion that it’s going to get a lot worse.
