Good day all. I’m embarrassed to say that this story slipped past me. There is a bill in the New Hampshire State Legislature to block public colleges and universities from banning the possession or carrying firearms on their campuses.
In general, colleges and universities throughout the country like the good Communist Totalitarians they are, don’t pay all that much attention to the Constitution of the United States. They will not allow people to carry or possess firearms on the campuses. Now the issue with this is that security on many campuses is not the greatest.
One group that is at risk are the female students. Rape, and I’m talking about the violent, grab them and drag them into the bushes type, is an issue. Women are smaller, lighter and not as strong as men. Granted, you will have a few that are quite capable of defending themselves physically, but if they don’t end the threat in seconds, they will lose the fight.
This is why these young ladies need a means to protect themselves and a pistol has always been the great equalizer. We can also discuss men who may want to carry for self defense or the defense of others too. However, the Marxist morons running most universities would rather women be raped and killed then be allowed a useful means of self defense.
However, a number of state legislatures around the country have been looking at the risks students face and have started passing laws shutting the school administrations down. A major impetus for this is what happened recently at Brown University. A psycho walked into the school and opened fire. There was no security and the administration had shut off the security cameras. Now New Hampshire is looking at allowing students to carry on campus. Here are the details from WMUR:
The mass shooting on the campus of Brown University is underscoring a debate looming at the state house this year. House Bill 1793 would prohibit public colleges and universities from regulating the possession or carrying of firearms and non-lethal weapons on campus.
I had forgotten that a lot of these “Centers for Political Reeducation” won’t even allow mace or tasers.
“Brown had a school policy that disarmed their students, and that policy – it can be blamed for leaving those kids as defenseless victims inside of that room,” Rep. Sam Farrington (R), Rochester, said.
Now Brown University is in Rhode Island. That state is a Democrat controlled state and they are all about revoking the 2nd Amendment. (Also much of the rest of the Constitution as well) I have no idea if any of the people that were in the area where the psycho started shooting would, under normal circumstances have had a firearm available. Still, if someone wanted to carry and where otherwise legally entitled to, they should not be prevented by some Libtard’s “Feewings” about scary guns.
Farrington, a UNH Senior, says he and his fellow students should be able to fully exercise their rights.
“Right now, when bureaucrats at UNH or Plymouth State or Keene State colleges are funded by taxpayer dollars, when they restrict the Second Amendment rights of college students, that’s an overstep of authority.”
Of course, the “Usual suspects, namely the Continuing Criminal Enterprise known as the Democrat Party, are opposed to this.
Democrats strongly oppose the bill, saying it will overburden New Hampshire’s university and community college systems.
“They’re going to lose students, they’re going to have to pay more to harden the campus, they’re going to have to hire more security officers — and their operating money for all three campuses will go up,” Rep. Wayne Burton (D), Durham, said.
Burton, a retired college administrator and combat veteran of the Vietnam War, says more guns will make campuses less safe.
“You have not seen bodies that have been shot – I have killed people in Vietnam with a 50 caliber machine gun,” Burton said. “I carried a .45 caliber pistol, and when the bullets start flying, you cannot control what happens.”
Those circumstances were very different from what happens when you have an active shooter on a campus. That was a war and you had military personnel on both sides shooting. In the situations we have, you will see a lone nutcase come in to a location and just start firing. That lunatic’s sole goal is to kill as many people as possible.
These shootings usually end one of three ways. The criminal kills himself. He gets killed by police. He gets captured either by police or a citizen is able to take him down. (See Australian Incident) Finally, you have the armed citizen who realizes what’s happening and takes action to end the threat. This is not a combat situation.
Around a dozen other states have already passed some form of ‘campus carry’ laws, with varying levels of restrictions. Representative Farrington contends they have not seen a surge in gun violence as a result.
“The fact of the matter is that guns — when responsible, law-abiding citizens are armed, people are safer,” Farrington said.
As much as the Libtards want to deny it, and they will, it isn’t the police that stop mass shootings, it’s someone who is armed who stops the attack. Yes, in most, (Not all), cases, police will do their jobs and go after the crazed shooter. (See Nashville as a case in point on how it should be done) However, you will also see incompetence and cowardice when police don’t go after the criminal. (Ulvade and Broward County)
Even when they do engage the criminal, it can take time for them to get on site. The Nashville incident is a case in point. It took the first responders, once they got the call, 10 minutes to get on scene and begin clearing the school. It was only when they heard the crazy bitch firing that they knew where to look and stopped the room by room search.
I don’t know if this bill will pass. It should as far as I’m concerned. New Hampshire is a Constitutional Carry state. You do not need the state’s permission, in other words a license, to carry a firearm. You can carry it concealed or in the open. Because of this, you don’t see a lot of violent crime in the state. The reason is simple. Criminals don’t want to get shot. For the crazies going into schools to murder people, all it takes is one person firing back to thwart the attack and save lives. I support the actions of Representative Farrington and I hope the bill becomes law.
