Good day all. With the arrest of Don Lemon on charges of violating the rights of church goers in St. Paul Minnesota, the Left has gone absolutely ballistic…again.

Lemon was part of an organized raid into a church with the intention of disrupting the services and scaring the attendees. Lemon went in and basically browbeat the pastor of the church, filming the entire incident. Shortly afterwards, the organizers were arrested on warrants signed by a magistrate.
The same magistrate refused to sign the warrant for Lemon and several others. The DoJ went to a real judge and were turned down again. At this point, the DoJ went to a Grand Jury and secured an indictment. One of the things I’ve heard, but have NOT verified, was that the judge recommended going the Grand Jury route when he turned down the warrant request. I dn’t know if this is true or not. In any case, with the Indictment, Lemon was busted.

It was at this point, once the news broke, that the “Usual Suspects” started screaming that Lemon’s 1st Amendment rights were being suppressed. Note that they didn’t consider the same 1st Amendment regarding the rights of those in the church. Anyway, here are the details from Newsmax:
The far left and much of the mainstream media lost it Friday after federal agents arrested former CNN anchor Don Lemon over his role in the takeover of a St. Paul church.
Attorney General Pam Bondi flatly defended the arrest, stressing that Americans have the “right to worship freely and safely.”
That is another section of the 1st Amendment. You have the right to practice your faith. This is one reason Muslims haven’t been shutdown in this country even though that religion is more of a political movement masquerading as a religion. But, you have to take the bad with the good. However, Lemon’s lawyer doesn’t seem to consider the rights of the church goers.
But Lemon’s attorney, CNN, and other vocal liberals quickly cried foul, claiming the arrest amounted to an attack on the First Amendment.
“The FBI’s arrest of our former CNN colleague Don Lemon raises profoundly concerning questions about press freedom and the First Amendment,” the network said in a statement.
Lemon’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, described Lemon’s takeover of the church as “constitutionally protected.”
I hate to be the one to break it to Lowell, but it isn’t. If both the protesters and Lemon had stayed outside of the church, they could have made as much noise as they wanted and no one wold have cared. When they stormed into that church, they basically trespassed onto private property and interfered with their 1st Amendment rights.
Former CNN anchor Jim Acosta echoed that claim, calling the arrest “outrageous” and declaring, “the First Amendment is under attack in America.”

Jemele Hill of The Atlantic also had a meltdown.
“This is horrifying. I don’t care what your political beliefs or leanings are, what journalism outlet you represent, this absolutely cannot stand,” she argued while dismissing the religious beliefs of those affected by the takeover.
That isn’t at all surprising. These so called journalists have, for the most part, never actually read the Amendment and either don’t know or don’t care about the freedom of religion section. Just to help them, here is the actual text of the 1st Amendment:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances
As you can see, that is primarily aimed at the Government interfering with the right to speak what passes for your mind. However, the right of free speech and press isn’t absolute. In fact, Washington Gun Law stepped out of his usual channel of discussing the 2nd Amendment to talk about Don lemon, his arrest and the 1st Amendment.
Those calls ignore worshippers’ First Amendment right to gather for worship without disruption — protections reinforced by the FACE Act — a point conservatives highlighted in praising Lemon’s arrest.
“For those saying this is criminalizing journalism, journalists don’t get a pass when breaking the law just bc they have a mic,” Megyn Kelly said in a post to X. “If I accompanied ppl storming an abortion clinic harassing/scaring/’traumatizing’ the crying women while saying ‘But I’m a reporter!’ I would absolutely have been charged under any Dem admin.”
And a number were. As I recall, several who were covering the January 6th protest were arrested and charged even though you could see they were just reporting on what was going on. (I believe they were also convicted as well) This brings us to the case against lemon and if the DoJ can get a conviction. Alan Dershowitz has said he thinks the chances are low. Here are a few details from TotalNews:
Alan Dershowitz, a Harvard Law School professor emeritus, indicated on Newsmax this past Friday that a conviction in Don Lemon’s criminal case seems improbable.
Dershowitz expressed to host Greta Van Susteren: “This is complicated, but I think it won’t lead to a conviction for Don Lemon.”
He mentioned that prosecutors will have a challenging task in proving any criminal liability. Although certain actions could potentially undermine journalists’ First Amendment protections, he argued that the existing evidence doesn’t indicate that Lemon went beyond the legal boundaries.
“That might breach journalistic ethics, but if he did, there’s a significant distinction between ethical violations,” Dershowitz noted. “We can’t say for sure if that was the case, but if it were proven beyond a reasonable doubt that he was a co-conspirator or accessory to illegal actions.”
Well Mr. Dershowitz, I have a question for you regarding the difficulty in proving the case. Have you seen Don Lemon shooting off his own big mouth? He pretty much confessed that the he knew what the protesters were going to do and that he was on board with it. Here is something about that, along with Lemon’s “confession” from the WDWPro Show.
Don Lemon is a complete dirtbag and an arrogant narcissist bordering on megalomania. He and quite frankly, the majority of “Journalists,” think that they are above the law when it comes to getting a story. Far to many think that they are the next Washington Compost and the Pentagon Papers.
They forget that in the case of the Pentagon Papers, the courts ruled that the government couldn’t stop publication of the report. What journalist either don’t’ know, or forget is that they could be arrested after the fact on a number of charges including receiving stolen property and espionage. (The Nixon Administration didn’t proceed with those charges)

In think, in my unschooled legal opinion, that the DoJ has a good criminal case against Don Lemon and the other so called journalist who went into the church. Even if Lemon somehow beats the wrap, he’s still going to be facing a massive civil suit from the church, the Pastor he badgered and every single man, woman and child who was there to attend the service. Basically, he’s sunk no matter what.
