Good day all. I had intended to publish this over the weekend, then President Trump decided to introduce the Iranian Mullahs to their 72 virgin goats. Well the fight between Skydance and Netflix over the purchase of Warner Brother is done. Skydance offered $32/share and Netflix has folded their hand. Baring regulatory issues, of which there don’t appear to be any, Warner will become part of Skydance/Paramount in about a year.
There is one potential fly in the ointment and that is, surprising absolutely no one, the Attorney General of the People’s Republic of Kalifornistan, Rob Bonta. He is opposed to this since it means that CNN will no longer be shills for the Democrat party. Here are a few details on this from Reuters:
California has a lot to lose if Paramount Skydance (PSKY.O), opens new tab buys Warner Bros Discovery (WBD.O), and could stand in the way of a deal, while Paramount’s deep political connections to the Trump administration are expected to smooth the path to federal regulatory approval.
As you might have guessed, Reuters is another hard left legacy member of the Democrat Propaganda Corps.
State Attorney General Rob Bonta said on Thursday that California is already investigating the deal and will be “vigorous” in its review. Hours earlier, Paramount beat out streaming giant Netflix (NFLX.O), opens new tab in a months-long battle for control of the storied Hollywood studio.
What review? They have no say in this matter at all. This is a federal regulatory matter and the red flags that were waved over Netflix’s acquisition, if it had proceeded, don’t exists with Skydance/Paramount.
Paramount’s bid is likely to raise concerns about job cuts in California that also dogged Netflix’s bid. Paramount sees $6 billion in cost “synergies” in the deal, which is often code for massive layoffs and cutting, or sharply paring back, entire units. It can also mean reducing the number of suppliers and squeezing existing contractors for better terms after the two companies merge. None of that is good news for the California economy.
Considering how Kalifornistan Communist Party, aka the Democrats, have been driving businesses out of state, why would anyone be surprised that Skydance or Netflix, if they had succeeded, wouldn’t cut jobs out there? Frankly, I won’t be at all surprised if Skydance/Paramount doesn’t just close down everything and move to other states.
While Paramount initially came in with what the Warner Bros board viewed as an inferior offer, it was highly successful in stirring up political opposition to Netflix’s bid among Republicans in Washington.
Reuters should know better then to put out that blatant level of fake news. You had President Trump and Senator Big Chief Sitting Bullshit Warren both agreeing that Netflix acquiring Warner would be a bad thing. Do you have any idea how many times those two have agreed on anything? I think the count stands at one. Both hated the idea of Netflix buying Warner.
Now, Bonta and California Governor Gavin Newsom, both Democrats, are expected to be the biggest hurdles to Paramount after the media conglomerate won the fight by upping its offer price.
They might want to be very careful here. I don’t think they have any jurisdiction, and if their antics cost Skydance money, I see the Ellisons suing Kalifornistan to recover their costs. What this smacks of is desperation. They might be trying to claim that Paramount/Warner would be a monopoly, but it isn’t. Now if Netflix has succeeded, there was a very good potential monopoly claim. Netflix would have killed all the product that Warner sends to movie theaters. There were other issues as well
Most of the Warner employees, other then the potential layoffs, aren’t really panicking. That can’t be said for the communists at CNN. Here are those details from the New York Post:
CNN staffers are freaking out after learning that their left-leaning network’s owner Warner Bros. Discovery will be acquired by Paramount Skydance — even as insiders confirmed that the new owners plan to take a more politically centrist approach to news, The Post has learned.
Top talent and low-level producers alike are apoplectic that CNN is being acquired by Paramount Skydance, the media giant that scooped up CBS last year – and which subsequently tapped 41-year-old newshound Bari Weiss to root out liberal bias at the network.
Now, CNN staffers are so panicked that the network’s president Mark Thompson was forced to send out a memo late Thursday to tamp down anxiety. The merger still requires a greenlight from Trump’s Department of Justice, among other regulatory approvals.
“Despite all the speculation you’ve read during this process, I’d suggest that you don’t jump to conclusions about the future until we know more,” Thompson wrote late Thursday after it became clear that PSKY emerged victorious over Netflix.
Oh please. Jump to conclusions. They’re probably going to be correct, more or less.
“And secondly let’s not forget our duty to our audience. We’re still near the start of what is already an incredibly newsy year at home and abroad, one that will culminate with critical U.S. midterm elections and who knows what else,” Thompson added.
And therein lies the problem. CNN’s audience is made of of hard left moonbats, morons, and idiots, much like most of their on air “Talent”. At one time, CNN was the “Go to” place to find out what was happening all over the world. That all ended when people realized that CNN wasn’t reporting news as much as they were manufacturing it.
Worse, stories came out on how CNN spiked stories that would have hammered certain foreign dictators. They did this, supposedly, to keep access to those said leaders and the countries. Now? No one trusts them and their market share has collapsed.
As one person inside Paramount Skydance told me: “Yes, I know people are scared but we’re looking to produce a news product that appeals to 70% of the country that is either center left or center right. Why be scared of that?”
Oh you would be surprised. Take CBS News..PLEASE!! Since the acquisition of Paramount with the CBS News division, the so called “Journalists” have been waging an all out ware against Bari Weiss and the Ellisons. This was the same bunch of moonbats that actively tried to sabotage the deal to between Skydance and Paramount in the first place. Since the takeover, it’s gotten worse. Now it looks like Weiss and the Ellisons are looking to clean house and bring in new people who will report the news and not manufacture it.
That sentiment hasn’t filtered down to the network’s anchors, producers and correspondents who crank out the 24-7 cable news product. They believe President Trump will be on the phone daily orchestrating coverage with the Ellisons and Weiss, The Post has learned.
That isn’t concern, that is delusional paranoia. That tells you just how far gone CNN actually is. For years, probably decades, these buffoons have seen CNN as their personal safe space, a place where they could spew their socialist and Marxist drivel without any real repercussions.
A bigger problem for Thompson and his troops – from anchors like Kaitlan Collins, Jake Tapper and Anderson Cooper, right down the line to the rank and file — is the likelihood of cost cutting. Even here, the fears of imminent Armageddon might be overblown, insiders say.
It’s not the insiders who have any say in this, it will be the new owners. They are going to look at the contracts, and also at how these alleged “Journalists” are doing their jobs. If they are constantly slanting their stories to favor one side or the other, (Oh let’s be realistic. They always slant their stories to favor the Democrats. That’s their job, or it was), then they might find themselves out on the street.
In any case, it’s going to take the better part of the year to close the deal, get it through the Federal Regulatory checks and squash the communist controlled states such as Kalifornistan, who think they’re the ones actually in charge. While it may take several years to muck out the stalls at CNN, as well as CBS, I think that CNN can once again become a trusted news source.
