The Great RINO Hunt of 2026 claims another trophy

Good day all. Yesterday, Texas held it’s primaries/runoff elections, and it looks like we won’t have John Cornyn to kick around any longer.

Cornyn went up against the current Attorney General, Ken Paxton in the Republican Primary a few months ago. Neither one of them achieved the 50% level needed and a runoff was ordered. Yesterday it was held and it didn’t go well for John Cornyn. Here are some of the details from Fox News:

President Donald Trump and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton are the big winners in the Lone Star State’s bitter Republican Senate nomination battle, which spanned for more than a year and became the most expensive Senate primary in history. Paxton, who was endorsed by Trump just one week ago, convincingly defeated longtime GOP Sen. John Cornyn in Tuesday’s runoff election for the Republican nomination. With the vast majority of votes counted early Wednesday morning, Paxton topped Cornyn by over 27 points.

That was a blowout approaching Liz Cheney levels of rejection. While I do think that President Trump’s endorsement helped, it was John Cornyn’s own record that pretty much sank him. He was completely captured by the Washington Deep State swamp and repeatedly voted against the wishes, and in some cases flat out instructions of his constituents.

Paxton now faces off against state Rep. James Talarico — a rising star in the Democratic Party — in the general election in a race that is among a handful that may decide if the Republicans hold their slim 53-47 majority in the Senate. Talarico, who topped progressive star Rep. Jasmine Crockett, a vocal Trump critic, in the March primary, is trying to become the first Democrat in nearly four decades to win a Senate election in Texas.

From what I’ve been reading, Talarico has no chance at all. He is not just hard left, to the point of being a communist, he’s also flat out nuts. He beat out Jasmine Crocket for one reason. She’s even crazier than he is, if that is even possible.

Trump targeted Cornyn as “VERY disloyal” as he backed Paxton, a major Trump ally and MAGA firebrand, in the final days of the runoff campaign. The ballot-box showdown in right-leaning Texas served as the latest test of Trump’s immense grip over the Republican Party and the strength of his endorsements in GOP nomination races. And once again, Trump easily passed the test.

One major difference between John Cornyn and Bill Cassidy, who was also blown out in his primary in Louisiana recently, is that Cornyn didn’t vote to convict President Trump in those bogus impeachments in his first term. Other than that, he could be counted on to not be counted on.

Paxton on Tuesday night quickly turned his fire on Talarico, charging in his speech that “James Talarico is a threat to everything we hold dear in this state and in this country. He’s a threat to our security and our safety. He wants open borders and even said a welcome mat should be at our southern border.”

He mocked the Democratic nominee as “tofu Talarico,” “six-gender Jimmy,” “James Talafreako” and “low-T Talarico.”

Tofu Talarico? Oh I think I’m going to steal that one! In any case, you can expect the Democrats to try and use some of Paxton’s past against him. He has faced a number of accusations, most of them apparently politically driven by Bush allied Republicans in Texas. As I recall, the Texas state elections a while back blew most of those Republicans out of office. I have little doubt that the attempts to throw mud at Ken Paxton won’t work and he’s ready for them.

This is the second RINO that was blown out in the Texas GOP primaries this year. There was supposed to be another runoff in the 23rd district between the AK Guy, Brandon Herrera and Tony Gonzales, however, that was canceled when Gonzales admitted to being basically a rapist, driving one of his former aids to self immolation. He dropped out of the race and resigned his seat.

President Trump’s drive to push out Republicans who aren’t interested in Making America Great Again has done very well this year, both on the local/state level and on the federal level. Kentucky’s Massie was tossed out by voters who had grown tired of his constant betrayals, Bill Cassidy was crushed in Louisiana and now Cornyn is on his way to the political ash heap of history. The Great RINO Hunt of 2026 has collected another trophy.
