60 Minutes “Talent” Issues ultimatum

Good day all. It seems like CBS News and 60 Minutes should be moved over to the Soap Opera division. Hardly a day goes by when something doesn’t happen that makes most people laugh and reach for more popcorn.

Last week, it was the firing of the ever so sanctimonious Scott Pelley. This is on top of other people not getting their contracts renewed and others who were just laid off. Now the remaining “Top Talent” have announced that they will stay, but they are issuing ultimatums. Here are the details from Fox News:

Longtime “60 Minutes” correspondents Lesley Stahl, Bill Whitaker and Jon Wertheim have decided to stay with the program following a wave of high-profile firings, while warning in a joint statement to colleagues that “newsrooms are not supposed to be run like dictatorships.”

The trio of veteran journalists admitted they are still “deeply upset” by the recent shakeups at the program. The past two weeks have seen the firings of several top correspondents and producers from the venerated show.

“We have had a hard time deciding whether to stay,” the group wrote, ultimately noting that they chose to remain with the embattled newsmagazine because they “don’t want to see ‘60 Minutes’ die.”

Somehow, I don’t think that the new Paramount and CBS News management gives a damn what these arrogant overpaid idiots think. I have no doubt at all that if they had decided to quit, their replacements would have been hired in a month, and they would be cheaper, far more professional and actually provide news that is news and not Democrat Party propaganda.

The long-running program has faced significant upheaval following the firings of producers Tanya Simon and Draggan Mihailovich, correspondents Sharyn Alfonsi and Cecilia Vega, among others. This week, Scott Pelley was terminated a day after he exploded on network leadership at a meeting with new “60 Minutes” executive producer Nick Bilton.

There is a term for this. It goes “Out with the old and in with the new.” The Ellisons and Bari Weiss want to take CBS News, which would be better referred to as “CBS Fake News” and restore it to what it once was. An actual, accurate and trusted news provider. That includes 60 Minutes. If the current dregs of broadcast news can’t get with the program, they will find themselves out on the street in short order.

Bilton was brought in by embattled CBS editor-in-chief Bari Weiss to be the new “60 Minutes” head honcho. He got a rude welcome from Pelley, who told him he had “slender” qualifications and had harsher words for Weiss, who was not present at the meeting.

Pelley thought he was the one in charge. He probably thought that he was to important to get rid of. Bilton and Weiss did give Pelly every chance to walk back his remarks. Instead, he doubled down on stupid, so he was fired for cause and lost everything.

According to Stahl, Whitaker and Wertheim, no explanation was offered for the departures of Simon and Mihailovich, whom they described as “strong leaders who everyone respected.”

I would have to dig into this, but I think the reason can be easily guessed. They were hard core Trump hating stage IV TDS sufferers and were putting the network in legal and financial jeopardy.

“As far as we can tell – because no explanation has ever been offered, they were expelled because they fought for our ‘60 Minutes’ values and stood up to protect our independence and integrity,” they said.

Integrity? Now that is a laugh. 60 Minutes was so blatant in their manufacturing “News” that they their targets, when they sat for interviews, had their own recorders going to protect themselves. When a 60 Minutes hit piece dropped, they were ready with a rebuttal. That rebuttal was what was actually said, not edited together to change the meaning of of what their targets actually said.

“We want to express how sorry we are that these principled, fair and honest journalists were treated so shabbily, with such indecency. Tanya deserves to be celebrated, not cruelly cast off. Draggan too. It’s been heartbreaking,” the group later added.

The correspondents also addressed Pelley’s departure and those of other former “60 Minutes” staffers.

“This goes for Sharyn, Cecilia and Scott as well, all at the top of the world of TV journalism who exemplified 60 Minutes’ ethos of tough questions and honest storytelling,” they wrote.

Honest storytelling? Well they were very good at telling stories. What they weren’t was honest or factual.

Despite the turmoil, Stahl, Whitaker and Wertheim confirmed their intention to stay on and “try to repair and preserve our reputation.” They said they were concerned the decision could be “construed as an endorsement of the existing power structure,” but added that is “categorically not the case.”

How about nobody cares? You moonbats seem to have forgotten how things work in the business world, if you ever knew. The owners and their designated managers are the ones in charge. You people are employees. If you have ideas that will help improve things, they will be happy to listen. The problem with these moonbats is that they’re living in a bubble of their own self importance.

They said the decision is not final and that they are willing to leave if the show strays further from independent journalism, adding, “If we can continue doing the work that made this show what it is — committing acts of independent, fearless journalism and storytelling — we’re here for it. If not, we leave.”

I have a sneaking suspicion that we will have at least three more people who, when their contracts are coming up for renewal, they might find that their agent’s calls are going straight to voicemail. People like Leslie Stahl, besides being absolute dinosaurs, can’t see the damage they’ve done. Most people do not believe the legacy media.

Many see them as nothing more than shills and propagandists for the Democrat Party. Their ratings are going down and that means advertisers are going to wonder just what they are paying good money for. If stopping the death spiral requires amputating self important journalists, then they are going to find themselves out on the street wondering what happened.
