And it’s game over for CBS’s Scott Pelley

Good day all. I saw a new report yesterday, (Tuesday June 2nd), on a fight that 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley had with the new producer of 60 minutes. I was away from my desk sitting in a car dealership having recall work done on the Anger Central Corporate Limousine and so I didn’t think much about it.

This morning, I woke up to some refreshing news. Scott Pelley was fired yesterday for cause. Here are the amusing details from USA Today:

Scott Pelley is the latest “60 Minutes” veteran to have his airtime on the CBS show halted permanently.

CBS News has terminated the correspondent, 68, after more than two decades at “60 Minutes,” USA TODAY has learned, leaving Pelley without severance or other benefits effective immediately.

The anchor’s exit comes after a heated staff meeting, in which Pelley accused CBS News Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss of “murdering” the news institution, according to a recording obtained by The New York Times and reported June 1.

Well, that’s a great way to impress the new boss, call her a murderer to her face.

In a termination note obtained by USA TODAY, newly hired “60 Minutes” executive Nick Bilton told Pelley that he was hoping they could pave a “path forward together” following the “misconduct” but said, “You made it clear that you are not interested in such a path.”

“It is a profound disappointment that you rejected that overture and chose ambush instead. Yesterday, you hijacked my first meeting with staff to disparage me, my qualifications, and my intentions with remarkable incivility and contempt,” Bilton told Pelley in a note. “Yesterday’s performative display of hostility — enacted in front of the staff instead of in a civil, private conversation — demonstrated that you have no interest in contributing to the future success of the show.”

Ouch! Well, I hope Pelley enjoys his retirement. This arrogant snot was typical of the people working in the CBS News division for literally decades. He is the second long term moonbat to be sent packing, although the other one, Sharyn Alfonsi wasn’t fired. Her contract simply wasn’t renewed. One of the reasons for her removal was basically mutiny. Others have also been let go, however, I don’t’ recall any of them being essentially escorted from the building.

I think it’s safe to assume that Scott Pelley won’t be getting a recommendation from CBS.

While Bilton said he is open to a “diversity of viewpoints and respectful debates” among the team, he will not tolerate any “performative displays of hostility.” He said Pelley’s “antipathy” toward the show’s future is loud and clear, adding, “And I have heard you.”

That is the main problem with 60 Minutes and CBS News. They don’t want a diversity of opinions. In fact, they have proven to be absolutely hostile to any opinion that diverges from the Progressive Liberal Democrat talking points. When it looked like Skydance and the Ellisons were going to take over Paramount, and by extension, CBS, the Liberals went absolutely ballistic. They actively tried to sabotage the acquisition. That showed the Ellisons just how bad things were and one of the reasons they brought in Bari Weiss. Weiss is no conservative, but she is an old school reporter, not a “Modern” journalist.

Pelley called Bilton’s qualifications “slender” and questioned Weiss’ commitment to the prosperity of “60 Minutes,” during the June 1 exchange, the Times reported.

Pelley was reportedly set off by a remark in which Bilton told staffers that Weiss “loves this institution,” according to the Times and Status. Pelley interjected, saying, “She does not love this place. She was brought in to kill it, and she’s doing exactly that.”

No, Bari Weiss wasn’t brought int to kill 60 Minutes. That show committed suicide decades ago. Ms. Weiss was brought in to remove the bodies and rebuild both 60 Minutes and the CBS news division.

He also interrogated Bilton about recent mass firings at the network – which took place May 28 and have been dubbed by the news industry as “Black Thursday.” Those let go reportedly include longtime “60 Minutes” senior leaders like executive producer Tanya Simon, executive editor Draggan Mihailovich and correspondents Sharyn Alfonsi and Cecilia Vega. In public statements, Alfonsi and Vega said their firings were politically motivated.

As I mentioned previously, I was aware of Alfonsi’s termination. I don’t know about the other two mentioned. Alfonsi wasn’t fired, the management just decided that they weren’t going to renew her contract. I suspect that happened with others as well. As to the reductions in force, I’m sure there were a number of reasons, both financial and yes, political. Management can’t have people in place who are actively working to sabotage the company.

I suspect that Scott Pelley’s firing is nothing less than a shot across the bows of the Libtards in the CBS News division. They have been literally getting away with virtual murder for decades, and because of these people being nothing more than propaganda shills for the Democrat Party, have no credibility left. It’s going to take years to undo the damage these Leftist moonbats have done and if a few dozen people need to be fired, then so be it. Good bye and good riddance to another barking moonbat.
