Good day all. The Skydance/Paramount purchase of Warner Brother Discovery is pretty much a done deal. There is the usual regulatory checks that need to be done, and the Democrats are doing everything they can to block the sale. They know that this will mean the loss of another reliable Democrat Propaganda network.
Despite what the Democrats want, they really don’t have anything to stop the sale with. The original Netflix deal was actually very problematical and could have been blocked for several antitrust issues. In any case, The Ellisons are now looking at CNN with an eye to restoring it’s credibility. It looks like they are going to appoint Bari Weiss to oversee CNN as well as CBS News. This is freaking CNN out. Here are the details from the New York Post:
CBS News boss Bari Weiss is likely to gain editorial oversight of CNN if and when Paramount Skydance’s acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery is approved, according to a report.
Now you can see why CNN’s propagandists are getting rather nervous. With the recent firing for cause of Scott Pelley and the contracts of other people not being renewed, certain parties at CNN are starting to see the writing on the wall.
Paramount executives are said to have held preliminary discussions with several candidates who would come in and run the business-side operations next to Weiss while she continues to oversee editorial.
The company is considering several big names, including current CNN CEO Mark Thompson, NBCUniversal News Group chairman Cesar Conde and former NBC News chief Noah Oppenheim, Axios reported.
Ben Sherwood, currently CEO of Daily Beast, and former CBS News president David Rhodes are also under consideration, according to the report.
Obviously, I don’t know any of these people. I think they can best be judged by how much hate is thrown at each candidate by the left. Whoever they hate most is probably the one you want running the place.
The prospect of Weiss overseeing editorial operations across both CBS News and CNN would represent a remarkable expansion of her influence less than a year after she was brought in to run CBS News.
Since taking over the helm of the Tiffany Network’s news division, however, Weiss has made changes that have ruffled feathers — nowhere more visibly than at “60 Minutes,” the long-running television newsmagazine.
Last month, Weiss fired the show’s executive producer, Tanya Simon, and two correspondents, Sharyn Alfonsi and Cecilia Vega.
I don’t know about the other two, but Alfonsi wasn’t fired. Her contract was up and CBS declined to renew it. As I recall, all three were refusing instructions and interfering with management decisions. Rather than just fire them, since the contracts were close to expiration, they just waited them out and sent them on their way.
She then installed Nick Bilton, a tech reporter whose bylines appeared in Vanity Fair and the New York Times, as the show’s new executive producer.
That set off the CBS loudmouth, Scott Pelley.
Last week, Scott Pelley, the veteran “60 Minutes” correspondent, was fired after he angrily confronted Bilton over the firings.
Confrontational is a nice way of saying that Pelley was insulting both Bilton and Weiss. Even then, Bilton and Weiss gave Pelley a chance to walk back his statements. Instead, he doubled down on stupid, so the fired him.
All of this is putting the Fear of MAGA into the Libtards at CNN. They have been living in their Progressive bubble for so long that they can’t conceive of any other opinion that doesn’t jive with their own. The funny part? Bari Weiss is not a conservative Republicans. What she is, is something that CNN hasn’t been in decades. A reporter who reports facts and leaves opinion on the opinion pages. With the Scott Pelley firing, Weiss and Bilton have decided that trying to manage with a light hand isn’t working and now they are going to start lowering the boom.
Many people have said that in order to save 60 Minutes and CBS News, Bari Weiss needs to pretty much fire everyone and start rebuilding from the ground up. I don’t think the Ellisons would have any problem with this. They appear to be giving her a free hand. CNN is in the same boat as 60 minutes and CBS News. They are nothing more than a propaganda organization for the Democrat Party.
The ratings for CNN have cratered. About the only time CNN’s ratings go up is when Scott Jennings is on and ripping apart the Libtards on the panel. He doesn’t use insults, he uses something that acts like a crucifix to a vampire. Facts and logic. CNN has been a money pit for a long time. The Ellisons what to change that. They want CNN to be a first class cable news service and to make a profit. Getting CNN back to doing basic, honest reporting is exactly what Bari Weiss will do.
