Good day all. Like most people, I pay absolutely no attention to the Women’s National Basketball Association. I am aware of Sophie Cunningham and Caitlin Clarke and the flat out bullying of Ms. Clarke by other players. Another issue, besides the failure of the whole enterprise, is how WOKE the people running the WNBA are.
Recently, Ms. Cunningham blasted men pretending to be women who want to play in women’s sports. Part of this was due to the WNBA “Discussing” letting “Chicks with Dicks” play against real women. Now two NBA players have decided to troll the WNBA by claiming they’re women and applying to play in the WNBA. Here are the details from Fox News:
Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White put the WNBA in an almost impossible spot on Friday when they declared for the 2027 Draft in the wake of the Sophie Cunningham drama, and the ways out are limited.
Frankly, none of them are great for the league, which is, presumably, the point. Unless, of course, both former NBA stars are just itching to get back in the game of basketball.
Somehow, I don’t think they are. I know that Enes, who was from Turkey, but moved, legally, to the United States when he was a teenager. He became a naturalized citizen in 2021. He is well known for blasting the human rights records of China and other countries. He is definitely NOT transgendered. He just decided to call the WNBA’s bluff.
For those who missed it, Kanter and White called the WNBA’s bluff by both declaring their intention to enter next year’s draft within hours of each other Friday evening.
“If simply declaring who you are is all that’s required, then I meet every requirement necessary to compete in the WNBA,” Freedom stated in a social media post.
“I’m transgender. I’m a woman. I identify as sometimes identifying as a woman for purpose of basketball, professional basketball, so I’ll be declaring for the WNBA draft in 2027 as well,” White later added. “They’re going to have nightmares, and they should. I really feel like I’m going to be dominant.”
This is beginning to panic the Woke Karens running the WNBA. They may have made comments about letting men pretending to be women into the league, but they probably assumed it would not happen or it would be people obviously not qualified. Having two former NBA players declaring for the WNBA draft? Yeah, they’re trying to walk this all back. Here are some of those details from Fox News:
WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert sent a letter to teams on Friday addressing concerns over the inclusion of transgender athletes in the league as two former NBA players announced their intentions to declare for the next WNBA Draft.
“I know many of you have received questions in recent weeks regarding transgender athlete participation in women’s basketball, and I expect this topic will continue to receive significant attention,” Engelbert wrote in the memo, per The Associated Press.
“I wanted to reach out to share how we are approaching these conversations at the league office and to thank those of you who have responded to questions from the media with thoughtfulness and professionalism.”
The translation? “We never thought anyone would do this. If we let these two pull this, they will be selected and they will obliterate all the actual female players. We are so screwed!”
Engelbert went on to call the debate “nuanced.”
“We recognize that this is a complex and nuanced topic, and we will continue to have important conversations with all of you and the Players Association in the weeks and months ahead,” Engelbert said in the memo. “We also plan to convene additional discussions and offer listening sessions for any team leaders who would like to participate. Your perspectives and feedback are invaluable, and I appreciate those who have already reached out to share their thoughts.”
The short answer is, they don’t have a clue what to do. The WNBA is one giant WOKE virtue signaling dumpster fire and a couple of NBA players are calling them out. The know there is no way they can let Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White into the league. This is exactly what Kanter Freedom and White expected. The entire thing is to force the WNBA to rethink their WOKE ideology. Somehow, I don’t see how they can. In the mean time, sit back and watch the show.
