Good day all. New York Govno Kathy Hochul is currently up for reelection. Apparently, a large number of New Yorkers are not happy with her. Because of this, she has decided that her best bet to keep her job is to suck up to the Communists and other leftists in the southern part of the state.
One of the things she’s been doing is working to protect illegal aliens from being picked up by ICE for deportation. There are a number of reasons for this, but a big one is she needs headcount. The Census will count the illegals which will be used to determine how many house seats the state will have.
We also have the Democrats flat out putting criminals, both illegal aliens and domestic criminals, ahead of American citizens and legal resident aliens. A lot of people in New York aren’t happy with this, but the Democrat Party, which has an iron grip on the state, doesn’t care. The legislature went so far as to make it illegal for law enforcement to work with Federal law enforcement.
This is where things are coming to a head. Many of the state sheriff’s are continuing to work with the Federal government, especially with ICE. Now Hochul and the State AF, Letitia James, (Who should be in jail if there were any real justice), are threatening the Sheriff’s with arrest of they don’t comply. Here are the details from Just The News:
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul is giving county sheriffs a final ultimatum to end immigration agreements with the Trump administration or face possible legal action for violating a new state law.
My response is rather simple.
In a joint statement issued Friday, Hochul and Attorney General Letitia James put seven sheriffs on notice that they have until Aug. 25 to terminate their so-called 287(g) agreements with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement that allow local cops to be deputized by ICE for immigration enforcement.
The Democrats said since they sent notices to a dozen sheriffs in July demanding that they provide documentation verifying they have terminated the agreements, only five have complied with the request. They said the remaining seven sheriffs have 11 days to “formally unwind their agreements with ICE.”
“Local police should be focused on one thing: keeping their communities safe,” they wrote. “That’s why New York passed these laws, why we will enforce them, and why we will continue standing up to federal overreach. Our job is to enforce the law, and that is exactly what we plan on doing.”
From what I understand, the deputies are basically providing support for the ICE agents. Since ICE’s current priority are illegals who have committed other crimes, then aiding them actually benefits the communities. Hochul and especially James have absolutely no interest in the communities, otherwise they would be happy to see ICE come in and round up illegals.
James has previously warned that the new Office of Immigrant Trust will take legal action against any local police or sheriff’s department that continued to cooperate with ICE after the deadline.
In May, Hochul signed the “Local Cops, Local Crimes Act” that bans state and local law enforcement agencies from helping the federal government in civil immigration enforcement cases and bans ICE agents from wearing masks during operations. The new law specifically bans state and local governments or employees from cooperating with ICE in civil enforcement cases.
That law is pure, unadulterated crap. Constitutionally, the Federal Government can not require local law enforcement to enforce federal laws. However, they can ask and local law enforcement can assist if they want to. There are procedures in place for just this purpose. The DoJ is already going after New York over this pile of steaming, fetid manure.
The Department of Justice filed a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the new law, which lawyers for the DOJ said would make ICE agents and other federal authorities subject “to criminal penalties” for wearing masks to protect their identities, among other claims.
That was another part of that “Law” that I had forgotten about. I believe that part has already been tossed out. The states can’t threaten federal agents who are enforcing federal law. There has already been several cases on this very subject that the courts have shot down. As for the threats to the Sheriffs? A few have stated they will not comply.
“Rensselaer County’s participation in 287g allows for necessary checks on those at our jail who are in our country illegally, ensuring someone wanted for crimes elsewhere is not released into our communities,” Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin and Sheriff Kyle Bourgault said in a statement. “These checks are the same that anyone else remanded to our jail would face.”
McLaughlin called the state’s ban on ICE agreements “a bad idea” and said it “only came about because the Governor and Attorney General are desperate to cater to their progressive bosses.”
“They have failed to show how their new policy would make anyone safer, and because of that, we will not comply,” the statement said.
That’s because it won’t make anyone safer, other than illegal aliens and other criminals. This is nothing more than a move to block the Trump Administration. The majority of Americans, and a larger majority of legal resident aliens, want the all illegal aliens, especially those committing other crimes, booted from the United States. The Democrat Party elites and especially the DSA want the exact opposite. They want the borders thrown open and Americans reduced to nothing in their own country.
