Good day all. Govno Gruesom Gavin “Hair Gel” Newsom is, arguably, one of the worst governors that California has ever had. I have written a number of entries on his incompetence, arrogance, megalomania and corruption. The last entry was on what I called “Diapergate,” involving his wife and taxpayer funds.

Now it looks like a Federal Grand Jury may actually be impaneled to look into Newsom and his wife’s actions regarding who is paying for his international travel expenses. Here are the details from the San Francisco Standard:
The federal government is conducting a criminal investigation related to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s international travel, according to subpoenas reviewed by The Standard.

The subpoenas — which were issued in early September and requested testimony and communications with the governor, among others — seek six years of records involving the California State Protocol Foundation, a nonprofit that has paid for Newsom’s overseas travel, as well as communications with current and former aides, advisers, and associates. Those aides include Rebecca Prowda, who oversees Newsom’s overseas travel as his chief protocol officer and is the wife of San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie.
Newsom has been doing a lot of globetrotting the last few years, allegedly looking to make deals for California businesses. (Yes, there are still a few in the state) I had thought that he was abusing taxpayer funds to pay for his trips. Apparently not.
The documents provide the clearest picture yet of the scope of a federal investigation effort Newsom first disclosed in June, which he said was focused on him and his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom.
“The records requested by this subpoena are for use in a criminal investigation pending in the Eastern District of California,” says one of the documents, signed by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael D. Anderson.

Now this is interesting. It looks like the U.S. Attorney’s office may have found something, and now they want to see if there is anything to this and just who was involved.
The records obtained via subpoena will be presented to a grand jury, a group of jurors that acts like a judge, reviewing evidence and testimony to decide if there’s sufficient grounds for an indictment.

Unlike having Govno Newsom and the others brought before a grand jury, where they can assert their 5th Amendment right to remain silent, this is a documents request/order. They have no choice but to hand them over unless they can get a friendly Obama of Biden judge to quash the subpoenas.
Newsom’s office said the investigation is baseless, and there are no crimes to investigate.
Please excuse me while I laugh hysterically. Ha Ha Ha, The DoJ and the FBI, along with Vice President Vance’s Fraud Task Force are all starting to dig into the open sewage pit that is California’s welfare system. California, in response, has passed a blatantly unconstitutional law criminalizing private citizens from investigating fraud. And do I need to mention the Train to Nowhere? That’s up to about $15-$20 billion+ and not one foot of rail has been laid down. People are asking where all that money has gone.
Newsom has said he’s considering running for the presidency, which could heighten the Trump administration’s interest in making him a target of federal prosecutors.
Gruesome Newsom’s chances of winning the presidency are slim and none, and Slim has left town. California, now known as Kalifornistan, is an economic basket case and Newsom is a major reason for it. Newsom has been a complete failure in every elected office he’s held. He’s also an exceptionally good con artist when it comes to getting elected and has managed to successfully fail upward repeatedly.
One of the subpoenas seeks records, correspondence, and receipts related to the California State Protocol Foundation, including information about its donors and fundraisers. It also seeks records involving the governor’s international travel and participation in international events, as well as records related to money used for his residence, living, or personal expenses.
The foundation has helped cover official travel expenses for California governors for more than two decades, using private donations rather than taxpayer funds.
I will freely admit that I do not understand what the U.S. Attorney is looking for. I can hazard a guess of course. While this organization claims/states that it has done this for every governor for 20+ years, the last Republican governor was Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2006, and he wasn’t much of a Republican. Since then it’s been all Democrats, all the time. What I think the U.S. Attorney is looking at is this 501(c) being used as a money laundering/bribery system foe Democrats. It’s entirely possible that the U.S. Attorney’s office has information provided by an insider that has made them go “Hmm, this looks fishy.”
Being named in the subpoena does not indicate that someone is the subject of the investigation or that the government believes they have done anything wrong.
This is correct. It may be that someone may have information that can aid the investigation.
While the subpoenas don’t cite any specific alleged crime, their contents potentially suggest an investigation into the possibility of improper gifts or influence peddling.
Since the targets are all Democrats, it’s a safe bet that bribery, money laundering and influence peddling is what the U.S. Attorney’s office is zeroing in on.
It’s possible that the scope of the investigation and its targets are broader than described in the subpoenas reviewed by The Standard.

The U.S. attorney’s office in the Eastern District of California, headed by Eric Grant, did not respond to a request for comment. FBI Agent Austin Harper, who is listed on one of the subpoenas, declined to comment. Grant was appointed by former Attorney General Pam Bondi in August 2025.
Which is to be expected. It would be very inappropriate to make any comments regarding an ongoing investigation. I don’t expect any comments until “Warrants have been unsealed and the suspects have been arrested and taken into custody.”

As to whether or not anything will come of this, I can’t say, I hope it does and that Gavin Newsom is actually indicted for actual crimes and put on trial. The investigation of that crime syndicate has been underway for about a year. I know that many people will be demanding that arrests start now and others are saying that it is a witch hunt. What people need to know is that financial crime investigations take time. A year or more is not uncommon. Be patient.
