Obama campaign cheating again

Gee, wasn’t this covered in 2008? The more things change, the more they stay the same. In this case, it looks like the Obama campaign has turned off the verification systems on their donation page for their web site…AGAIN!

This all started back in 2008 when rumors started circulating that Obama was accepting campaign donations from foreign sources. This was confirmed by the Atlas Shrugged blog. In an article titled Obama’s Foreign Contributions: Who is Ronald Hickel? The writers showed just how the Obama campaign was violating the laws on fund raising. Other people and groups quickly verified this on their own ((With thanks to Obamashrugged.com)).

In an article written in the American Thinker by Rick Moran titled ‘Adolf Hitler’ donates to Obama campaign he shows how the Obama campaign in 2008 disabled the verification system on their donations page. With this shut off, there was no way to verify who was donating the money. It came out that this system is used by many campaigns and that the verification settings are turned on by default. The Obama campaign had to go into the application settings and purposefully deactivate them. Of course, the Republican National Committee complained loudly to the FEC as well as the media.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) today filed a supplement to its complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) against the Obama for America campaign addressing its acceptance of foreign national and excessive contributions, donations from unknown sources, and demonstrated lack of oversight or concern for compliance with the law. The complaint demonstrates that the Obama campaign has failed to comply with federal campaign finance law in its fundraising. RNC Chief Counsel Sean Cairncross released the following statement today concerning the supplement to the complaint:

“Based on numerous press accounts that have come to light since our initial filing in early October, it is clear that the Obama for America campaign is operating outside of the law. The complete and total lack of any control mechanisms within the Obama campaign’s fundraising operation has undermined any confidence in their ability to curtail excessive, foreign, and fraudulent contributions and demands immediate attention from the Federal Election Commission (FEC).”

The response? Crickets Chirping.

Well, it looks like the most corrupt administration in U.S. history is doing the same thing again. Over the last couple of days, John Hindraker of The Powerline Blog decided to see if the rumors of Obama shutting down the AVS ((Address Verification System)) verification system again were true. They were. (The site Mr. Hindraker created has since been taken down. Ed.)

In a detailed and amusing blog post, Mr. Hindraker showed that not only could he donate money without verification, he could also set up a “Grassroots Fundraising site” under the Obama campaign’s main site.

Here is what Mr. Hindraker did:

Earlier this morning I decided to find out how far an illegal donor could push the envelope and still have his contribution welcomed by the Obama campaign. So, like a number of our readers, I went to the Donate to Obama page and identified myself as Illegal Contributor. I entered my address as Cell Block 13, State Penitentiary, Stillwater MN. I identified my employer as Minnesota Penal System and my occupation as Inmate.

Now that should have sent up skyrockets with any verification system. Of course, it has to be activated in the first place. But it gets better.

I put a $3 contribution on one of my credit cards, and the Obama campaign accepted it. The campaign site automatically prompted me to set up a “Grassroots Fundraising” site, so I did. I identified myself as “Illegal Contributor” and added a graphic of an inmate behind bars. I included the legend “Illegal contributions wanted!” and this fundraising blurb:

Barack Obama is a money machine, but let’s not take any chances! Come to this page to make your illegal contributions. It’s easy, because the Obama campaign facilitates fraud!

I checked the Obama site when I started working on this posting and yes, it is still up. In a final dig by Mr. Hindraker:

It is inconceivable that the Obama campaign disables all credit card security measures (unlike every other presidential campaign) for any reason other than to facilitate violations of the campaign finance laws. The Obama campaign has deliberately set up its fundraising system so that legal contribution limits can easily be circumvented, and illegal contributions from foreign nationals can be accepted. It is ironic that Democrats fulminate about Citizens United and the need for disclosure of donors to non-campaign-related organizations, when the Obama re-election campaign is one gigantic fraud, structured to facilitate violation of federal campaign finance laws.

I don’t know why Mr. Hindraker is so upset. After all, the laws we are all required to live under don’t apply to Obama, his cronies and Liberal Progressive Democrats.

Obama will go down in history as the most corrupt president ever, and that’s saying a lot. The previous holder of that title was one Richard Milhouse Nixon. You should look at all the money the Committee for the Re-Election of the President, aka CRP, but better known as CREEP pulled in. It was Nixon’s and CREEP’s actions that brought about the modern campaign laws Obama is ignoring today.

At least Nixon had the decency to resign in disgrace. I think Obama will be the first former president to actually go on trial for his crimes in office.
