And here I thought the days of the cold war were over. I guess I was wrong. Yesterday the senior defense officials of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics Federated States of Russia stated that if we deployed an ABM system in Eastern Europe, they would launch an attack and destroy it.
Now, I was wondering, didn’t we usher in a new era of cooperation and respect when the ScoaMF’s new foreign policy team took over from the “EVIL BOOOSH!” dictatorship? I mean, didn’t Saint Hillary of the Whitewater ((Whitewater Scandal)) bring a big red reset button and have the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov push it? How could this be?
First a little background information.
The original plan was for 10 ground based interceptor missiles installed in Poland. They were designed to stop inbound missiles coming from Iran or other RIF nations. They were specifically not set up to stop a missile attack from the Soviet Union Federated States and could be easily overwhelmed if the Soviets Russians wanted to nuke Europe. Of course, considering the state of the Russian missile forces, they might be lucky if 10 of them actually managed to take off and reach Europe.
Still, this is a major threat and one not to be taken lightly. What the Russians are saying is. “We will start a war” if we deploy radars and ABM interceptors into other countries in Eastern Europe.
Here are some of the details from Fox News:
President Dmitry Medvedev said last year that Russia will retaliate militarily if it does not reach an agreement with the United States and NATO on the missile defense system.
Chief of General Staff Nikolai Makarov went even further Thursday. “A decision to use destructive force pre-emptively will be taken if the situation worsens,” he said at an international conference attended by senior U.S. and NATO officials.
Why are the Russians doing this? There are a few reasons. One is the paranoia that they will be attacked again by the west. Right now this is unreasonable since NATO is defensive in nature and frankly doesn’t have the ability to launch an offensive into the FSR. Another reason is imperial. Putin and Medvedev want their empire back. This means not just restoring the old cold war borders, but not sopping until they reach France at least, and probably not until they hit the Channel.
The third reason is Obama.
SCoaMF has shown that he is a weak, cowardly president. He actually supports the ideas of the old Soviet Union. He has already caved in, Neville Chamberlainlike ((Arthur Neville Chamberlain)), to the Russian demands to cancel the deployment of ABM’s into Poland.
The Obama administration tried to ease tensions with Russia in 2009 by saying it would revamp an earlier Bush-era plan to emphasize shorter-range interceptors. Russia initially welcomed that move, but has more recently suggested the new interceptors could threaten its missiles as the U.S. interceptors are upgraded.
As I said before, these missiles are not oriented to stop ICBM ((Intercontinental ballistic missile)) and IRBM ((Intermediate-range ballistic missile)) missiles coming from Russia. Even if they were, there are so few scheduled for deployment that a Soviet Russian attack could easily overwhelm them. This is nothing more than Russia bullying a weak and utterly incompetent president…just as happened 35 years ago when another ScoaMF ((James Earl Carter)) was screwing things up in the Oval Office.
So, are all you Obama supporters ready for his 3am call that the ABM base has been attacked by the Russians?
I thought not.
