And he has started to fight back against the lying SCoaMF, Der Fubar himself, Barack Obama. Yes, Romney has finally decided to remove his thumbs from assorted bodily orifices and start slamming “The One” over his lies, misstatements and corruption.
As you may recall, I posted an Open Letter to Mitt Romney asking if he was really interested in winning the election and offering some advice. Well it looks like he remembered that politics ain’t bean bag and has started slamming Obama.
Apparently it started with an “Oops! Did that come out of my mouth?” moment when John Sununu said that he wished “this president would learn how to be an American” during a conference call. He promptly apologized, but that will mark the moment when the Romney campaign took the mittens off and put on the brass knuckles.
This is on top of Romney letting fly on Obama’s remarks that all business succeeds only because of the Government. Last night, Romney, in a speech in Pennsylvania ripped into Obama’s statements on small business owners, and attacked Obama’s crony capitalism. One small but telling difference? He left out and reference to Obama being a “nice guy.”
For the last few weeks, Romney hasn’t been doing much to defend himself against the outright lies of Obama and his campaign. The Republican base was feeling that a repeat of the utterly inept McCain campaign was about to reoccur. (Excepting Sarah Palin who managed to almost turn it around for that useless git) First it was the attacks on Romney’s work at Bain Capital and just recently the accusations that Romney was a criminal.
Buzzfeed has the details on the Romney campaign’s change of strategy.
RWIN, Penn. — Standing before hundreds of roaring partisans in this sweltering Pittsburgh suburb Tuesday, Mitt Romney delivered a 30-minute speech that sounded, at times, like a greatest hits compilation of his favorite Obama-knocking stump speech lines. The president was, Romney said, “out of ideas,” and “looking for someone to blame,” and a “crony capitalist.”
One thing he was not: “A nice guy.”
It took Romney long enough to figure that out. I had it figured out when the SCoaMF was running in 2008.
“[Romney] has said Obama’s a nice fellow, he’s just in over his head,” the adviser said. “But I think the governor himself believes this latest round of attacks that have impugned his integrity and accused him of being a felon go so far beyond that pale that he’s really disappointed. He believes it’s time to vet the president. He really hasn’t been vetted; McCain didn’t do it.
McCain was a fool and still is. He figured he should be president because it was “his turn.” He ran one of the most inept campaigns since Bob Dole. The only reason he wasn’t blown out by 20 points was the hard work done by Sarah Palin. Many Republicans held their nose and pulled the lever for McCain on the hope that he would win, get sworn in, then die in office.
Indeed, facing what the candidate and his aides believe to be a series of surprisingly ruthless, unfounded, and unfair attacks from the Obama campaign on Romney’s finances and business record, the Republican’s campaign is now prepared to go eye for an eye in an intense, no-holds-barred act of political reprisal, said two Romney advisers who spoke on condition of anonymity. In the next chapter of Boston’s pushback — which began last week when they began labeling Obama a “liar” — very little will be off-limits, from the president’s youthful drug habit, to his ties to disgraced Chicago politicians.
From what I’ve seen, Massachusetts politics can be just as vicious as Chicago politics. Romney knows how to handle himself if he really wants to.
“I mean, this is a guy who admitted to cocaine use, had a sweetheart deal with his house in Chicago, and was associated and worked with Rod Blagojevich to get Valerie Jarrett appointed to the Senate,” the adviser said. “The bottom line is there’ll be counterattacks.”
Der Fubar’s people call Romney a criminal and a tax cheat, Romney’s people call Obama a cokehead. The difference here is that Romney isn’t a criminal and The SCoaMF has admitted that he is, indeed, a cokehead. Last I checked, snorting coke was still illegal.
The reference to Obama’s past drug use seems to suggest that former New Hampshire Governor John Sununu wasn’t going off-script after all when he dinged the president for spending “his early years in Hawaii smoking something” during a Tuesday morning Fox News appearance.
So it really wasn’t an “Oops! Did I say that?” Moment? Good!
Now the Obama thugs and their co-conspirators in the Obama Steno Pool, are trying to make it look like Romney has something to hide by not releasing any more of his tax returns. Frankly I agree with Romney in this. However, this too can be turned against Obama.
Perhaps as a solution to that problem, Romney surrogates will place increased emphasis in coming days on the “Fast and Furious” gun-running scandal at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, hoping to drag the story back into the headlines, and highlight questions about the Obama campaign’s transparency, the Romney adviser said.
I’ll go one better. Allow me to channel Romney. “Hey Obama! I’ll release my tax records if you release all those documents you’re hiding on fast&furious as well as your school transcripts! and medical records!”
Meanwhile, Romney’s aides remain particularly livid about Obama spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter’s suggestion last week that Romney committed a crime by filing apparently conflicting documents to the FEC and SEC.
“[Obama’s] policies have been such utter failures, the only thing he can do is to try to destroy a decent man and his wife,” the adviser said. “So he gets some hack political adviser from Chicago who has nothing to point to in her own life, and tells her to call him a felon… When did our politics get to that point? I mean, it’s Nixonian.”
DING DING DING!
Now we’re cooking! Comparing Obama and his administration to the Nixon administration! I’ve always said Obama would make Nixon look like an amateur when it came to utter corruption. At least in the Watergate scandal, no one died. Obama is responsible for 200+ Mexican’s being murdered, and one, possibly two US federal agents being killed. Gun running, drug smuggling, money laundering, aiding a drug cartel….Yeah, so who is the Real criminal here?
The conservative blogs have been overjoyed with Romney’s realization that Obama isn’t a nice person. It started with the talented, intelligent and beautiful Michelle Malkin, who has been haranguing Romney for weeks to get off his dead ass and fight back. Today she started singing “Hallaluah!” and remarked that:
The nagging paid off:
July 12, 2012 Not such a “nice guy” anymore, huh?
April 20, 2012 No More “Mr. Obama Is a Nice Guy”
Mrs. Malkin, who is married to the second luckiest man on Earth, (I’m the first. I’m married to an even more beautiful, talented and intelligent woman, Mrs. Webmaster), has even provided music in celebration of Romney’s change of heart.

Hot Air has also chimed in with a sigh of relief from Captain Ed Morrissey.
Republicans cheered Mitt Romney’s speech from Pennsylvania last night, attacking Barack Obama’s crony capitalism and ripping his statement that small business owners “didn’t build” their own successes. They may have missed something that Romney left out — a mention of Obama as a “nice guy” who just isn’t up to the task of being President of the United States. After getting a taste of Chicago politics, Romney and his team have decided to take the gloves off and jump into the character debate Obama apparently wants to have.
Now if Romney will just pick a pitbull for a VP, preferably one who is both competent and conservative, we have a chance to free the people from Obama’s tyranny.
