Good day all. I was just wondering around and spotted this little bit of stupidity on Drudge. It seems that PETA would like to put up a sign to the hundreds of fish that were killed in a traffic accident.
Yes, I’m not joking. The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, (And the utter annihilation of humans), wants to have a memorial for fish. Here are the details from the Orange County Register:
PETA wants sign to memorialize fish killed in crash
An Irvine resident representing the group requests that the city place the sign recognizing the suffering of hundreds of saltwater bass that died at the spot.
An Irvine resident is requesting that the city install a sign to memorialize the hundreds of fish killed in a traffic crash in early October as they were being taken to Irvine Ranch Market.
Ok, this IS California, and we all know people living out there are about three fries short of a happy meal, but this is just plain stupid.
In the letter, Dina Kourda, on behalf of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, asks the city’s street maintenance superintendent to place the sign at the site of the crash on Walnut and Yale avenues.
The sign would read, “In memory of hundreds of fish who suffered and died at this spot,” to remind tractor-trailer drivers of their responsibility to the animals who are “hauled to their deaths every day,” according to the letter provided by PETA.
The crash occurred Oct. 11 when a truck, carrying 1,600 pounds of live fish and several tanks of pure oxygen, crashed with two other vehicles.
I think the truck driver was more concerned with the damage to his rig, the other two cars and any people who were involved. The fish kicking the bucket probably didn’t even cross his mind. The losses to his bottom line with the fish dying, yes. So what else does this barking moonbat, (or would that be bubbling moonbat?), have to say about this? Quite a bit actually. Hang on, you’re about to lose a few dozen IQ points.
“Research tells us that fish use tools, tell time, sing, and have impressive long-term memories and complex social structures, yet fish used for food are routinely crushed, impaled, cut open, and gutted, all while still conscious. Sparing them from being tossed from a speeding truck and slowly dying from injuries and suffocation seems the least that we can do,” the letter continued.
*blink* *blink*
Ok, I see that someone didn’t make it to the drug store and has gone off her medication. Fish do not use tools. They do not tell time, they don’t sing and just because they like to swim around in a large group doesn’t mean they have complex social structures. What it does mean is that they instinctively move in large numbers so that predators might think they are one big fish instead of a bunch of small meals.
Last weekend, during the Obama “I love me and You love me too!” rally, the Angry systems Administrators buddy mentioned that he spotted a couple of PETA pinheads wondering around. This is how he described the sight.
I was heading up the street making my way home when I spotted a tall, well dressed, smoking hot blond. With her was someone in an elephant suit. At first I thought they were either Democrats making fun of the Republicans or Republicans wiping the Obama lemmings nose in it. Then I saw the sign. It said something like “Order the USDA ((United States Department of Agriculture)) to raid the circuses and free all the elephants!” I looked at the blond again and looked into her eyes. Basically, what I saw was “The lights are on but no one is home today.”
This doesn’t surprise me at all. For years, that will known mental genius, Pamela Anderson, was the spokesman for UGG boots. She has also been a major supporter of animal rights. Finally, someone mentioned to her that the boots she was both wearing and pushing were made from leather ((Pam Anderson finds out her boots were made from animals)). As you might expect, the dim bulb’s head almost popped.
PETA is not known for caring one whit about people. In fact, they would put a rat above a baby every time. Now it seems that the clod asking for the fish memorial does have a small concern about traffic safety.
Kourda requests that the sign be placed at the edge of the right of way farthest from the road in order to prevent it from interfering with traffic.
You know what’s sad? This being California, she might just get her sign.

Nope, the city said it wouldn’t put the sign up, according to a TV news report on the issue I overheard while passing by the living room (dunno what channel, I think Fox News but I didn’t stop to look).
The sad thing is that PETA still gets donations, after all they’ve done to make clear that they elevate animals above people, and don’t care at all about them.
