Good day all. Now that the election is over and Der Fubar’s commie butt will be safely ensconced in the White House for another 4 years, the backstabbing has begun.
Right after the election, notices were sent out to Ohio recipients of food stamps that they were going to be cut back by $50/month starting in January. Needless to say, the locusts who voted for all the free stuff promised by King Putt are in shock over this turn of events. How could this be happening? Here are the details from the ToledoBlade.com:
Ohio families receiving food stamps could get an unwelcome surprise come January: $50 less every month in assistance.
For the 869,000 households enrolled in the program for the poorest Ohioans, that could amount to about $520 million annually out of the grocery budgets.
Excuse my while I laugh hysterically at this. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Because of the way the federal government calculates utility expenses for people receiving the benefit, a mild winter nationwide last year, and a lower price for natural gas, many families could experience a significant cut in aid, those familiar with the program say.
Ok, I understand that not all the people taking food stamps want to do this. However, Ohio did vote to put Obama’s back in the White House. I don’t think they expected to get shafted like this. In case you haven’t noticed, food prices have been going up rapidly since the SCoaMF took office in 2009. (To be honest, the climb started under that idiot Bush) The reasons are quite simple.
First, the mandate to put alcohol into gas. They make the alcohol from corn. Normally corn is used to feed people and cattle. Since so much is being made into fuel, (and not very efficient fuel at that), the costs to meat producers is going up. There is also the inflation problem being caused by Ben Bernanke and the Federal Reserve. Those idiots are making the dollar less valuable. Of course, salaries aren’t keeping up so purchasing power is dropping.
“They are going to increase hunger among our most vulnerable — working families, seniors, children, and persons with disabilities,” said Lisa Hamler-Fugitt, executive director of the Ohio Association of Foodbanks.
Ms. Hamler-Fugitt said her organization is particularly concerned that some seniors or persons with disabilities who have a low benefit amount could lose all their monthly assistance.
“We’re really worried about [the change],” she said.
And it gets worse. We had a drought issue last summer and crop yields weren’t great. This too will add to the increased costs of food. This could be mitigated somewhat if the EPA would cancel the ethanol requirement for gas. This would allow the grain that would be distilled to be used for cattle feed instead. Since this is the EPA, especially Obama’s EPA, that wont’ happen. They don’t care how many people go hungry, or even starve to death so long as they “Save the planet from human caused Global Warming Climate Change!” In their sick minds, dead people means less damage to Gaia. That’s a “WIN WIN” in their book.
State and county Job and Family Services officials say there is little they can do other than letting their clients and community partners who provide food assistance know about the changes.
“This is a federal issue,” said Joel Potts, executive director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Directors’ Association. “It is what it is. They have a formula. … We just think it is going to be really hard on families and individuals. They will see significantly less money starting in January.”
This is what happens when you pull all authority for handling assistance for the poor from the states and hand it to some One size fits all” bureaucratic clown a thousand miles away. They can’t adapt to local changes, and frankly, don’t care in most cases.
“It’s a concern,” said Deb Ortiz-Flores, director of Lucas County’s Job and Family Services agency. “Fifty dollars can buy quite a bit of food.”
Yep, that’s a lot of lobster ((Calling for EBT reform)).
What’s called the “standard utility allowance” — the amount deducted from a person’s income when the state determines his or her eligibility for the food stamp program — will decrease by $166 for 2013, translating to about $50 less per household in food assistance. State Job and Family Services officials tried to appeal the change to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which oversees the food stamp program, officially known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, but the USDA denied the request.
People on food stamps, (Other than the welfare chiselers), don’t have a lot of money. They see this as a temporary measure while they try and get their feet back under them. And the way this cutback was determined shows how out of touch with reality the D.C. Bureaucrats are.
“Fifty dollars would be devastating” to families, he said. “These are folks that have already fallen off the fiscal cliff.” Mr. Frech added that many of his agency’s clients are not affected by lower natural gas prices.
“The majority of folks [here] don’t heat with natural gas in the first place,” he said. “They heat with fuel oil and propane.”
And thanks to Der Fubar, oil heat will be going through the roof. Of course, Obama could not care less. He has what he wants. The oval office for another four years. (Unless he manages to get himself impeached for crimes so egregious even the democrats will say he has to go) I’m willing to wager that we are going to see real hardship and possible starvation this winter for the first time since the early 20th century and this time it can be laid right at the doorstep of Big Government. As someone remarked, “I was told if I voted for Romney, I would lose my food stamps. You know what? They were right!”
No matter what the liberals will tell you, there is no free lunch, and eventually you run out of other people’s money to spend.
