Obamacare, three weeks and still failing

Today Obama held a press conference. He had all the people who has successfully signed up for Obamacare behind him. One of them promptly got sick and almost collapsed.

The SCoaMF also blamed all the problems on this pile of horse manure on the Shutdown, utterly ignoring a few details such as it going live on the same day and that this fiasco is totally Obama’s to own. Blaming others for his own incompetence is part and parcel of this megalomaniac. So is putting out propaganda and lying. Here are some of the details from the Business Insider on Der Fubar’s campaign speech this morning.

Flanked by people who he said have benefitted from the Affordable Care Act so far, President Barack Obama acknowledged on Monday the problems and glitches that have plagued the law’s rollout.

“There’s no sugar-coating it,” Obama said at an event in the Rose Garden of the White House, referring to the disastrous rollout of HealthCare.gov, the federal website where consumers have had anything but a smooth time signing up for health insurance. “No one is more frustrated than I am.”

These morons had three years to figure things out, but as it became blatantly obvious that “The One” had outright lied about the “benefits” of Obamacare, they became obsessed with hiding things. You know, things like the actual costs for people.

While acknowledging the problems with the website, Obama hailed the parts of the law that have already helped the 13 people that joined him onstage in the Rose Garden. At times he defiantly said that the website is “gonna get fixed.” He didn’t provide many specifics on that point, other than noting that people will be working overtime to fix it and that the White House will bring in outside experts — a “tech surge,” as he said.

Tech surge. In other words, throw money at the problem.

I hate to tell you this Sparky, but it isn’t going to work. Everything I’ve heard and seen as well as personal experience tells me this is a complete rewrite, not loading in a few patches. I used to work for a company that had purchased an “Off the shelf” program that tied into a database, had a web front end and did a lot of things.

computerskeleton

The problem was the application was not very good for our needs. The company, (A startup), had been screwed by an outsourced developer company and had to slam something in as fast as possible or basically shut down. (This was before I started there) The original application built, and I use the term loosely, was the ugliest piece of coding I have ever seen, and I am NOT a programmer. The site had been hacked at least twice before they shut it down and was on the verge of collapse. The outsourced company, thinking they had us over a barrel, jacked up their rates on us. This led to the mad search from something we could get to work and that we could improve on.

When I came on board, I found this thing to be almost useless. We spent the next 2 ½ years cleaning it up and making it work. I and a coworker decided that the company was going to have to spend some money and we put together a very rough project plan. It involved maintaining the old system while building a new one, including servers, database fault tolerance, fail-over and all the other niceties that were missing from the original system. I envisioned two teams. One mainlining the legacy systems and a contractor team of developers who would build the new system. Then we were sold and that was the end of that idea. This isn’t want King Putt is talking about of course.

Obama took the usual jabs at Republicans who he complained were trying to dismantle the law, like in the episode of the recent 16-day federal government shutdown. He even said that in some cases, it’s “exceeding expectations” — a comment that drew scrutiny.

“The point is the essence of the law, the health insurance that’s available to people, is working just fine. In some cases, actually, it’s exceeding expectations. The prices are lower than we expected. The choice is greater than we expected,” Obama said.

Someone needs to check the leader of the Choom Gang’s ((Obama and His Pot-Smoking ‘Choom Gang’)) stash. I think he got hold of some bad weed or something. The Republicans are trying to shut it down for a reason. An overwhelming majority of the people hate Obamacare and never wanted it in the first place. Now, people are losing jobs, getting their hours cut and the insurance they used to have canceled. When they go in to the exchanges, (If they can), they quickly find out that the “Insurance” being offered is significantly inferior to what they had, costs at least twice as much and with the deductibles, might reach as high as 5 times what they originally paid. For many people, this will be a choice of getting insurance, or starving.

“But the problem has been that the website that’s supposed to make it easy to apply for and purchase the insurance is not working the way it should for everybody. … Precisely because the product is good, I want the cash registers to work, I want the checkout lines to be smooth, so I want people to be able to get this great product. And there’s no excuse for the problems. And these problems are getting fixed.”

No, they aren’t. These aren’t a few minor bugs, these are structural defects. Obama is, as usual, lying through his teeth and now, even his biggest ass kissers in the Obama Steno Pool are starting to report on it.

Obama’s speech drew immediate criticism from both the left and right flanks. The Washington Post’s Ezra Klein said the speech was almost identical to one he could have given if the launch’s rollout had gone smoothly.

Klein has been one of the biggest ass kissers in the media. When he turns on Obama, will the others be far behind? And of course, the Republicans weren’t shy in the “I told you so!” department.

In a statement, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) said that the law’s problems went beyond a simple “website failure.”

“Obamacare’s problem is larger than a website failure, and it will take more than a ‘tech surge’ to fix it. The website does serve as stark evidence that the federal government is ill-equipped to centrally manage our nation’s health care,” Cantor said.

Now, if the Republican leadership has a brain anywhere in their collective bodies, they can utterly destroy Obama and the Democrats. This disaster was forced through on a party line vote and not one single Republican supported it. They need to start announcing plans to junk and replace this monstrosity with a free market alternative. Right off the bat, they can say they will allow insurance companies to sell across state lines. This means a much larger insurance pool. They can also end the hated, and unconstitutional mandate. I would even go so far as to end all the mandated coverages that drive up the costs of insurance. Basically, you pay for what you will need. For instance, I don’t need maternity coverage. What man does?

The one major issue that does need to be covered is the pre-existing condition problem. That is probably one area that a small amount of government might help. I can’t see why people can’t get the basic coverage they need and some sort of rider to help with a medical problem you already have. Someone who has diabetes and get hit by a bus isn’t drawing on any coverages that would be affected by the illness. He needs to get bones set, stitches and possibly hospitalization. None of that would be due to the illness he already had.

Besides, with a large, vast pool the insurance companies would have the resources they need. Additionally, people could shop around for the best deals to be had, and there should be no disincentive for people to change insurance companies if they want. Another thing that must be done is tort reform. We have to end this “Jackpot Justice” system. It’s one of the major reasons costs have skyrocketed. For those who may not remember, disgraced former candidate John Edwards made his fortune at the expense of doctors and insurance companies. Lawyers like him need to be staked out on ant hills.

We also need to get rid of bad doctors and go after fraud. However, we also need to let doctors actually, you know, doctor. Many specialists are constantly attacked by agencies such as the FDA for “Over prescribing” pain killers. There is generally a small issue with these accusations. The doctors are trained specialists in severe pain management and know that someone with those levels of pain aren’t in danger of becoming addicted, and are very carefully monitored. That never stopped the goon squads from the Federal Government of course. Thanks to them, I know of at least one person who was in such agony after they ruined his doctor that he publicly committed suicide. All this is fodder for a Republican plan to scrap the Obamacare Enslavement program and come up with a system that actually works. Hell, let the insurance companies build their own portals, They’ve been doing if for years.

As you may have heard, President Obama opted to do a speech from the Rose Garden rather than granting a one-on-one interview or holding a press conference to provide a State of the Affordable Care Act. Quite frankly, it was his only option. … found the number of visitors to healthcare.gov has dropped by 88 percent since Day 1 of its launch, this excuse that a massive amount of demand is forcing the website to fail is, yes, an outright lie to any sane person not blinded by ideology.
